Shot 50% from 3 in the first half and about 50% from the field. I guess thats pretty bad.

Keep him for another year, he doesn't perform, then you have to look at other options. I still think next year this team is going to be a national championship contender, with one of the nation's best backcourts. Give him one more year, then bash all you want...

Maybe 'Bama ain't that great. But how do you explain — in light of my comments about everyone else in the conference getting better — the fact that nobody can win on the road? If that doesn't scream parity, I don't know what does. All it takes is the right combo of hot shooting and good defense and any of these schools — 'Bama, Vandy, UK, Tennessee — can make the Final Four. (I left out UF because I think they're a lock.) The college hoops landscape is just that even, outside of UNC and UF, both of whom I think will make it to the FF.

No, it hasn't been hard to win on the road. UK has dominated that conference forever. Only in the past couple of years — since the advent of ESPNU and other college hoops subscription packages on cable/satellite — has UK found it harder to beat its SEC little brothers. Didn't they just go undefeated in conference in 2003?

 

And w/re to your first sentence on how "anyone can make the Final Four;" doesn't that exactly prove my point? That NCAA hoops is no longer the domain of a few historically dominant teams? That UK and the other traditional major powers — take Indiana as another obvious example of a program that's "slipping" — no longer get the pick of the litter when it comes to recruits, mostly because it isn't like the old days where only a select few teams made it on to national TV on a regular basis?

 

Don't make my arguments for me; you're a better debater than that.
