The Defenders of Bryan Station (4-3) make the 3-4 mile trip to "The Farm" to take on the Broncos of Frederick Douglass (7-0). This game is probably the District 8 title. The Defenders picked up a tough road win last night in Winchester over GRC. The Defenders jumped out to a 21-0 lead and held on to defeat the Cardinals 24-20.

The Broncos had probably their toughest district game in their 3+ years being back in 6A. The Broncos who were without their star running back Dakari Talbert who was severing a 1 game suspension. The Broncos defense stepped up once again in forcing 5 Madison Central turnovers in a hard fought 21-14 win at Madison Central. The Bronco defense is only giving up an average of 10.2 points per game and that is against some of the top tier teams in the state.

The Broncos should be back to fairly full strength and they have several undefeated streaks on the line going into this game. They are 40-0 all-time vs. all Lexington schools public and private schools. They are also now 14-0 in 6A District 8. They are 9-0 all-time vs. the Defenders by a combined margin of 332-70. I think the Broncos win this one by double digits, but it is a rivalry game and I am sure that Station will come in ready to play. I just think the Bronco defense is just too strong.

This game should be on Glicod Sports as well as being on NFHS Network. The kickoff is scheduled for 6:30pm on Oct. 16.

Douglass leads 13-12 at the half. The Broncos have turned it over 4 or 5 times I believe and still lead. The Broncos will get the ball to start the 2nd half.

Douglass 35-6.

Frederick Douglass was also without the services of Carter Ross last week who has run for 413 yards with four touchdowns averaging 8.1 yards per carry. Ross has size and strength and also good speed. He missed the Madison Central game due to a leg injury and I'm not sure how long he will be out. The defense was the key last week as they have the speed, size, and they swarm to the ball and recovered four fumbles against the Indians. The return of Dakari Talbert adds a new dimension for their offense against Bryan Station.

Freddie by 21.

Hard to see a scenario where this isn't a clock runner personally.

Hate to see that with the Ross kid. Heard he was out for the season. He was a really nice change of pace to help not run Talbert every play. Is he one of the triplets?

yes he is. Great player and kid. He for sure was an impact player for the Broncos.

From what I have seen, Freddie is the best 6A team that doesn't reside on Shelbyville Road.

All that is confirmed as of now is the regular season. He probably would not be needed for the first two weeks of the playoffs either. It is hoped he will be able to return by the 2nd round or by the quarterfinals. It is just wait and see how he progresses. I hope he can return. He is a vital part of the Broncos offense, plus he is a great kid as well.

The game has started, 0-0.
