The Camels are 2-0 to start the year, with wins over Scott and Southwestern. A good start on the young season for them. I still think this game = a running clock. The Birds name the score.

I get that you're hurt by the lack of kneeling feeling that it's a poor sportsmanship move. I've been around sports long enough that some kneel some don't. To @theguru point I've heard coaches tell

That's a Freshman's first varsity TD and got a bit excited. Let him have it.

  • You put Armstrong on the bench and protect him for what will be a long, tough season if the Birds figure in the end.

If it is a running clock I am sure Coach Sphire can figure it out.

The issue is lack of quarterbacks on the team. Backup is frosh Moeves who already plays Frosh and JV.

If he needs to play due to lack of backup supply, can we agree that there shouldn't be any designed QB runs or pass plays where he would scramble up the field.

Play calls should be then, take the snap and hand ball off and then avoid any chaos. If he needs to do pass plays make them quick slants or receiver screens. If nothing is open then hit the mascot.

Good compromise??

I went back and did some film study on what the play calls were once we hit the running clock against cooper. Here is what I saw:

6 pass attempts

3 hand the ball off rushing plays

3 designed QB runs

3 pass plays that turned into a QB scramble up the field

These were all while Bryce was under center.... He did finally get pulled by Moeves with 7 min left in the 4th quarter.

I am not arguing the fact that Armstrong should not be put into compromising positions with a running clock. More commenting to the lack of depth at the QB position in the program.

Seems like letting Cale Harris run some QB in a mop up situation would be preferable than having Bryce stay in with a running clock.

He's a sophomore with limited Varsity game experience, so I'm not surprised he played as much as he did. I would play him as well just to get the experience. I believe his main backups are a senior WR and a freshman? So, there's that also.

Better get Plan B operating effectively considering even Lamar Jackson in college and pros misses a lot of game time. Armstrong's style combined with a heavy workload exposes him. Don't need running clock experience.

We are in lockstep here OC.

Armstrong for 350+ and 5 overall TD's. Great reps coming in this one, that he needs. The Camels are game planning about weeks 4 and 5 coming out of half time.

So am I right or wrong on this? Campbell has dropped Highlands from the schedule starting next year?
