I know many might not agree, but as an old school purist, I really like these defensive, field position, time management low scoring battles.

A few light years. Boyle is presently ranked 2nd or 3rd in the state over all and plays one of the toughest schedules in the state. With RPI being so important come playoff time, Playing 2A Danville makes no sense. Just because you can run up the score on a couple of the weakest teams in the state, with Caverna , a team with14 players at last count still on the schedule you want to think you can play with Boyle Not going to happen. Before Danville opted out the game had become really one sided and You had maybe a dozen fans following the Ads across town and most of those left at half. I think you need to concentrate on trying to win a district, more in your possible future right now. As far as fans wanting the game back. Danville maybe, Boyle fans don't even see the Ads as being relevant in the state football picture anymore and very few as a real rivalry game. As far as Stoney being at Danville for a few years there was a rumor he applied for the Southwest job this spring?

It's kinda funny because I remember growing up people said these same things about Boyle County. Attendance fell off near the end of the series but I think that was due to the dysfunction in the program that was created by bad administration so the fan base just dissolved. No one here has even suggested that Danville is on the same level as Boyle right now or is ready to compete with them. The schedule is weaker than the past to try to build confidence among these players because most of Danville's talent are freshman and sophomores. Give it another 3-4 years and, assuming things remain steady and with support, and Danville will have the depth to get back to where it wants to be.

I heard nothing about that rumor you note.

But if Danville starts to get back into the title mix in 2A - and it is still a ways from that as other benchmarks need to be checked off - there will be calls to resume this series and there will be growing community pressure to do so. Again, we're talking a 5 year plan here, not next season.

Sorry to tell you Ads fans this but the rumor came from Pulaski County about Stoney applying for the job at Southwest. Then the idea that there is or will be any pressure from Boyle fans to include Danville on a future schedule does not make any sense. You are a 2A school and will always be unless you go to 1A. Even if you could be competitive against Boyle, which you are not even close, the RPI situation would keep the Rebels from adding Danville to the schedule. You need to try and compete in your district first. You can be competitive at the level you are in, especially playing one of the weakest schedule in 2A. I watched your game against KC and I have never seen a worst effort on defense by 2 teams ever. Boyle would put up 100 pts. against either one of you in a full 48 minute game if they wanted to. Wait until you play someone good before you drink any more of your own cool aid. You still have Caverna and their 14 players on your schedule, maybe, if they haven't cancelled their season, to try and set some kind of new record. As for Stoney being a great coach, I think he is doing a good job, but you have to win something big to be labeled as great. Winning a district would be a start.

But as to Stonebraker, tons of credit to him for the turnaround he has accomplished at Danville.

Stonebraker won a district championship at Casey County. When you look at that program and history, that's impressive.

That was probably the weakest district in the state that year and when they played in the region they got destroyed.

From what I've been around, there is a lot of sour feelings between the two schools over Danville pulling out in 2024 in the middle of a two year cycle. I know it's pretty straight forward here that the two wouldn't be competitive currently, but a lot of people on that side of town feel like Danville is ready to get Boyle back on the schedule and that they can win that game. Boyle also took a lot of lumps from Danville for a long time and never backed out of the rivalry so when they did that it amplified those feelings.

Does anyone have stats for this game? I would love to see how many rushing yards and touchdowns Meaux had.

Telling the truth is not being defensive. Not agreeing with misguided optimism about beating 2 opponents that wouldn't rank in the top 75 in the state would not be a recipe for being a worthy opponent for Boyle ever again even if you don't consider the RPI. You made your bed, now lie in it. Caverna? How low can you go?

Surely no one thinks Danville can beat Boyle now. It would be a first half Boyle County putting a running clock on Danville.

As to scheduling, Boyle hurts themselves in RPI by scheduling Danville. It serves no purpose competitively now other than renewing the "rivalry" on the field.

Maybe in 2 years after the next scheduling cycle Danville will be at a higher level but not now.
