Owensboro will host St. X on Friday at 7:00 pm. Both teams enter the season without key players from last year with Owensboro's RB Evan Hampton and St. X's WR/RB Marlon Harbin who both graduated and playing at the next level.

St. X won last year 38-7.

Owensboro returns dynamic WR Kingston Dillard who had over 1200 yds receiving and 18 touchdowns last season. They also return the leading tackler from last season with Kentucky Commit Ty Ashley having 148 tackles with 10 for a loss and 3 sacks.

St. X starts the season with a lot of new faces more so on offense with RB Cooper Yates returning. The defense returns more with two defensive backs of Jamari Carroll and Te'Are Wilson-Towns the 3rd and 5th leading tacklers from last year. LB/DE Korey Tutt an impact player returning as well.

Both teams played stout defense in their last scrimmage with Owensboro beating South Warren 21-3 and St. X beating Frederick Douglass 7-0. This looks to be a close defensive battle where Owensboro playing with revenge on their home field could get the win. Who wins?

I think this is a tough game to pick.

Owensboro by 10. People are sleeping on the Red Devils. They will soon learn Owensboro is a top 5 team in the state.

O has played St. X in the 21, 22 and 25 season all 3 were losses where X just simply the more physical team and imposed their will… I believe this year is different. O is playing with a lot of confidence and will try to match or beat X’s physicality. The energy will be high at Rash. Although I expect a low scoring defensive game. It will be tough for any team to keep Shemwell, Dillard, Bryant and Walker out of the end zone for 4 quarters.

Wow! This guy is a problem. I had forgotten all those plays he had made against BG last year. Thanks for the reminder!!!

This will be a great game. O has really improved and I think most of all their confidence has and a big reason they will be right there in this opening game. I think I'm going to drive over for this one since BG plays on Saturday!

I have a feeling the speed of the Owensboro defense and a hostile Red Devil crowd will be problematic for the inexperienced Tiger offense and QB.

KHSAA scoreboard says 7:00 pm but doesn't say central or eastern time so I assume it's is Owensboro time.

Each game time posted on Arbiter or KHSAA is “supposed to be” the time zone of the location/venue where the game is being played.
