Cheering for your Region at State

Featured Replies

Do you cheer for your region regardless of what team is representing your region?

I always cheer for my region because it is representing basketball for our entire area. Although it pains me to have to cheer for any of the NKY 10 region teams when they make it. I still do because they are our region representive.

What are your thoughts?

Not like I really have to worry about them making it, but I wont cheer for Middlesboro. That is the only team out of my region I wont cheer for.

I cheer for the 10th region team and if Lexington Catholic is in it i cheer for them because i have a cousin that goes there. Its really about your ties to different programs.

There are a couple teams in the 10th I dont cheer for but I will leave them unnamed..

I will root for Cov. Cath and PRP! Love their crowds

plus I am a big fan of Warren Central

I almost always root for the 10th region at state.

It's weird though because when I was younger my family always went to the first round session when the 9th region was playing. My father and grandfather went to Campbell County when they were in the 9th.

I cheer for the 10th no matter who goes.

I cheer for the 10th no matter who goes.

Same here....though I may not cheer quite as emphatically for some. :sssh:

I didn't cheer for Madison Central last year when after they put us out on that last second shot - but I didn't cheer against them either. Kind of a numb feeling as I watched the game.

I've witnessed a lot of fans cheering against one region.

Yes, as long as its not Highlands. Sorry Bluebirds.

If Scott County isn't in it i could care less as long as its not lex cath.....or Shelby County

I even cheered for Highlands during their finals appearance.

I have cheered for the 14th region representative as far back as I can remember, and will continue to do so. I can remember the low feelings I had as a youngster when Hazard's great Jim Rose-led teams, who many picked to win the Sweet 16, lost in the 1966 semifinals (to state champs Breckingridge County and Butch Beard). And again in 1967 when Breathitt County lost in the semifinals to Earlington (the eventual state champs) after leading for nearly the entire game. Also, Larry Stamper (future UK Wildcat) and his Lee County Bobcats heartbreaking OT loss to Seneca in the 1968 semifinals.

I usually cheer for any mountain team regardless of which region they're from. When Laurel County won it all in 1982,Clay county in 1986, Paintsville in 1996, and South Laurel in 2005....I was on cloud 9.:dancingpa

I failed to mention I like to cheer for the 11th region teams, particularly those in Lexington and Scott Co.
