Well two trips after the timeout and it is now 59-57 with 2:42 to play.

It would be hard to prove but has anyone in program history missed more layups than Otega Oweh?

Nice play by Pope after the timeout. Cats up 61-57 with the ball and 2 minutes to play.

Big 3 by Chandler and the Cats back up by 7.

Cats finally pulls away and now lead 68-57 with a minute to play. Cats on a 9-0 run after the Pope timeout with the score 59-57 on a 10-0 run.

Cats pull out a 72-63 win.

While there are a lot areas that didn’t improve like a lot of people thought once Calipari left. Which I admit I’m not very positive on if Pope can be the guy we need to win at the level that is expected. One area that I do believe Pope has been very good at, and is a clear upgrade from Calipari is out of bounds plays. Pope has been great out of timeouts with out of bounds plays. The play he drew up tonight may have won them the game. South Carolina cut it to 2 with a minute and a half left and had the momentum. Pope drew up a great play after a timeout to get an easy two and sparked the 13 to 5 run to end the game. Nicely done coach Pope!

You're wrong, 2 bad teams.

It was a must win, and they did win. It was ugly, and even though it was a win, it is further proof to me that Kentucky is a second round team at best. I don't think they have it in them to pull any type of upset in the big dance. I really hope I'm wrong, but they lack in so many areas.

Oweh has missed a lot recently on layups, but until this recent stretch he had always been really good at finishing layups, especially tough ones. The guy never seemed to be able to make a layup, which stopped him from being really good was Ashton Hagans, because he could get to the rim but never finished and quite honestly wasn't even close to making it most of the time lol.

Just what is going on with this guy?

Very painful to endure, can’t see this team getting any better in any phase of the game entering tournament play.
