Agree, or perhaps disqualification from post season play?  Or, on second thought, at a minimum the Coach is disqualified for those equivalents.  Don’t like punishing players for totally unacceptable action by the coach.

You are correct, don't punish the players.

Yet another example of a coach failing miserably to teach his athletes a valuable life lesson.  Instead, oh, we don't like the whistles, let's quit.

Unless there was a player safety issue that went unaddressed, this is so bad.

100% this.

My understanding is it's from the school.

The cynic in me says those two opponents are 3-20 and 4-21, respectively. That said, based on the seeming information at hand, it's still the right move.

So you're saying Bracken County should have suspended the coach against better teams instead of the next two games on the calendar?  How does that make sense?

I think he was saying that, given how bad the upcoming opponents were, it made the decision a lot easier.  He sits out a couple of games against lackluster opponents, the school looks like they have "punished" him, and it dies down.

No, based on the knowledge of the situation presented here, he absolutely should have been suspended. However, as @Carl Spackler said, I think it made it easier to suspend for two games when you had two winnable games coming up. If Bracken had one regular season game remaining and then the playoffs, would it have been a 1-game suspension? That's why I said it was cynical of me.

Either way, it doesn't matter. Serve the suspension, play the games, don't do it again.

He was going to be suspended either way.  They have Menifee County, Villa Madonna, Bellevue, and Frankfort coming up.  Those aren't easy wins for them either.  Bracken hasn't beaten a team with a winning record this year.
