Well, that changes things. Now that they get Lawrence, who do they go for in round 2 or do they try to trade back into round 1 with a later pick?

Based on Kiper’s mock draft several guards and linebackers will be taken around this position:

LB - Lawrence

LB - Thomas

LB - Howell

LB - Rodriquez

G - Rutledge

G - Bisontis

Also other interesting possibilities are:

DE - Parker

CB - Johnson

CB - Cisse

Lots of options but I feel like these are still positions (LB, O line, DE, & secondary) of need.  Even with all the defensive upgrades in the off season, second round pick needs to be of starter quality.

Nope. I would have been happy with either Bains or Downs. However, they got a guy who is proven and should help them win even more right now.

Was really nice waking up this morning and not finding the Bengals on any of these lists: Biggest Head Scratcher Picks Top Five Surprise Picks As we all know these lists are attempts by

The most expensive dline they better hope they make plays. Biggest need now is linebacker and left tackle.

Should have drafted McDonald from Ohio State. Basically same football player but alot cheaper.

Got an all-pro for one pick, at a position of need. That’s pretty much a no-brainer.

With salary cap constraints you aren’t going to be great at every position. This is why I think they should still consider trading Higgins if they can get a second round pick and a couple late picks over the next couple years. Great player, but that money can be spent better elsewhere.

I am already on record wanting to trade Higgins.

It is by far the easiest way to get cap freedom they may need while getting something back in return.

Declining DT only had a half a sack.

Tee Higgins' teammate at Clemson. They were both starters on the Clemson national championship team.

I understand and I wish Tee would wear a Guardian Cap.

From the Cincinnati Bengals:

We have signed DT Dexter Lawrence II to a one-year contract extension through the 2028 season.

2nd round and Slayton would have been the deal. I can't believe they gave up the 10th pick. That is crazy.

They would have to get creative. Maybe do a back loaded contract. Probably would need to cut Slaton before June 1  - that saves $6.7M against the cap. Cutting Iosivas saves $3.67M against the cap. Bengals only have $20M of cap space left and Lawrence reportedly wants $32M. I would make that move. Cut Slaton and Iosivas and sign Lawrence at $32M per.

Lawrence is at $20M next year on his current deal. The Giants are supposedly wanting a top 10 pick. So the Bengals would have to trade pick #10 and make some existing player contract moves, The Bengals need an interior DL big time and it is a weak draft for interior DL. I think the Bengals might wait to see who is available as the draft is rolling and have this trade in their pocket if they don't like who is left for them.

I read they only have over 6 million in cap space now.
