I would have loved to have Downs or Bain at 10 and they were both there.  And I have NO regrets!   Still love the move for DL!

Nope. I would have been happy with either Bains or Downs. However, they got a guy who is proven and should help them win even more right now. 

I know medical opinions is the reason he has dropped. However, if he McCoy is still there when the Bengals draft, I want them to take that chance and draft him. He is a top 10 talent, that they could possibly get in round 2.

I have no problem with that risk on McCoy in round two for the Bengals.  
 

However, linebackers Allen, Golday, and Rodriguez deserve strong consideration.  LB is a position of need and I believe any of these guys can start week one.

Doubt he slides but McDonald at DT would be hard to pass on.  Also think guard Bisontis is another option to think about. 
 

Lastly, it appears there will be a ton CB options available today, so it might be worth waiting for round three to pull the trigger on CB.

I keep hearing people saying that knee is risky. I heard someone say this morning that he might even need some more surgery. That would explain why he is out of round 1. Too risky for this year's Bengals draft IMO.

If the knee is truly that bad, needing more surgery, then I also not sure I am willing to risk it.   It also makes me wonder how much better his 4.38 forty time, plus that 38-in vertical and 10’7” broad jump, would be if he was actually healthy?  Those were his numbers from his pro day at the end of March.

I think it depends exactly what the medical reports are saying. That is the first I heard of possibly needing another surgery. If that is true, then yeah you can't risk that. However, there was injury concerns last year too for for top corner Will Johnson. He fell to the second round because of it, and ended up being very good. Without seeing the medical records, if the Bengals medical staff does feel comfortable with what they see, then I am all for getting him.

Will Johnson is the right comparison. I just read up some more and the expected added knee surgery is to remove a bone plug. So shouldn't be serious but I am tired of how these things always go for the Bengals. It always turns into a problem. I just don't want risk this year.

No doubt it could be a risk, and most likely the Bengals won't do it. As the Bengals have passed up on other talent in the past that falls in draft. One of the ones that stings the most is guard Trey Smith. He had a medical issue coming out, even though he was projected as a second round pick. He fell all the way to the 6th round. The Bengals had a chance to pick him, and instead took Trey Hill, and the Chiefs then took Trey Smith and he has been one of the best guards in football.

So to me while it is a risk, it could be worth the risk as you are getting a top 10 talent at pick 41. So just truly depends on what people really think on that knee. Besides him, I think one of the edge rushers or obviously linebacker will be where they go.

Heard the radio mention some concern about the other knee.  Again, only a quick blurb from the local guys.  Not sure how factual it is. 

I don't want to draft any guys with health/injury issues.

Howell made a name for himself after transferring from Bowling Green. He is an explosive and relentless pass rusher who finished second in the SEC with 11.5 sacks last season. He possesses good flexibility to dip and rip as a speed rusher; he can harness speed and power to push the pocket. Howell uses active hands at the line of scrimmage, displaying counter moves to get past offensive tackles. As a run defender, he does a good job shooting gaps and closes well chasing from the backside. He's also competitive in coverage when dropping to the hook/curl, getting to the flat and running with tight ends in coverage. His lack of length will be a concern at the next level. -- Scouts Inc.

Post-Draft Analysis
When Trey Hendrickson walked out the door in free agency, he took a lot of sacks with him. Howell should be able to bring some of those back, as his strong get-off helped him land 11.5 sacks in 2025. Maybe he won't do much against the run, but neither did Hendrickson. Howell can be a nice complement to Boye Mafe, who was signed to a three-year deal this offseason from the Seahawks.
