Miami 24 Ohio State 14 (CFP Quarterfinals)

Featured Replies

Missed nearly all of this doing family stuff tonight. Surprised but not really, Miami D already looked to be the best D Ohio State had played and they proved it. I thought the issue for Miami would be not enough offense.

Another CFP BYE Team bites the dust. Something to be said for teams getting rid of rust and nerves in the first round.

Congrats Miami! I got this completely wrong as I thought OSU would win easily, but I am so glad that I was wrong. I always love it when OSU loses! Also these last two years continue to show how c

Only 3 people picked Miami to win in the contest. At least for the rest of us it was only the 1 point game. lol

Easy pick my Miami dominated the line of scrimmage!

I am hoping for Downs to be the Bengals pick.

I just looked at a mock draft. They have Downs gone before the Bengals pick and project the Bengals to draft Bain.

Downs would be awesome too! I just feel like they can probably find a safety in free agency, easier than someone who can pass rush from inferior. Bengals get zero push on the inside, and if they can get that then that also helps the DEs they drafted. As many draft guys been saying Bain probably will be more of an inferior rusher in NFL. Which is why I also like the DT from Clemson. Either way a Bain or a Downs would really help this defense.

Not me.

Same with me. I know that the ACC gets a horrible reputation now and Miami’s losses didn’t make them look great by any means. But they impressed me early on and I was shocked when Louisville beat them. Miami was far better defensively this season compared to last season, which was what I thought was their significant difference. Beating Notre Dame clearly got them into the playoff and I’m glad for them that they got their bid, they have shown up for it between last night and against Texas A&M.

I don't think I've ever read a simple reply on BGP that was dripping/gushing with more sarcasm.

The ultimate example of "brevity is the soul of wit!" Well done!

This! I think teams in the SEC benefit from this too. As the reputation of the SEC gets some teams ranked, and so when they beat each other. It all goes down as more ranked wins. Zero reason why the SEC should have had 5 teams in the playoffs. Oklahoma got counted as beating 4 ranked teams at that time this year in Missouri, Michigan, Tennessee, and Bama. Missouri and Tennessee weren’t even ranked by the end of the year. Very questionable how truly good the first three are on that list. Bama did beat Georgia which was impressive. Their other wins were against Vandy and Missouri. Which neither Missouri or Vandy beat anyone this year themselves, but ranked high because of being in the SEC. These high rankings for no reason really prop teams up even more. Yet then ignore bad losses a team may have, because they may have stacked up ranked wins against teams were ranked cause of the conference.

Right, why can't we just go to 16 teams with an algorithm that doesn't consider what conference you play in.  Just wins, losses, strength of schedule, etc.  I feel like the "perfect" solution is staring us right in the face but the college football powers that be don't want to surrender control.

I don't like the idea of Bain on the interior at all. Speed and leverage is his game and that is best as DE. Is 275 pounds too light for interior lineman in the NFL? It seems like you need to be 300+ to me.

Agree with all that but 275 pounds is light for NFL DT. He needs to play DE.

Considering Miami is the reason both Notre Dame and OSU are out of the playoffs, they are my favorite college team still playing.
