I hear you but I think it is really close with the three finalist I listed.  The difference is Owensboro won the state championship and Hampton was one of the big reasons why.

I know this is silly to many of you but I like to think of things in these terms.  I would love to see eleven Jacob Savages line up against eleven Evan Hamptons and eleven Marlon Harbins in a round robin.  Winner is Mr. Football. ?

Surely we can have AI run this simulation somehow? That would be awesome to determine it lol. (For the record, I am not advocating that we actually decide the award that way.)

All 3 are equally deserving of Mr Football, not one of them is a wrong choice!  My heart says Savage of course, but head says Hampton based upon stats and the state championship win.

Hampton, Savage, harbin in that order - all are 3 fine football players.  Hampton's insane stats, Gatorade player of year and 5A championship with MVP put him on top.  Top ranked recruit out of the finalists and only 4-star recruit per rivals on the list here.  Winning state championship was huge for Mayer a few years back - his stats weren't the best that year.  Hampton are top notch stats, best and top rated RB in the field as well AND he was overwhelming reason Owensboro dominated 5A and rolled everyone in the playoffs - first state championship at O in almost 40 years.

couple that with Hampton really high on KHSAA record book and on top of alot of OHS record book.

Based upon past criteria it's Hampton's...now that seems to shift depending upon who's meeting that criteria - I hope I"m wrong and it's voted with similar criteria -best player, highest recruit, dominates and leads their team to championship (add in phenomenal stas as well for Hampton, record book KHSAA, record book Owensboro)...it's the reason Mayer won it....to me this is a no doubter but I don't get a vote.

Is Savage the only one to excel on both sides of the ball?  

I see it as either Savage or Hampton.

Shame he lost playing in his team’s last two games do to injury.  Raiders with him would have gone deeper in the playoffs.

They went to the Semi's and gave South Warren all they wanted.  Had Savage played, who knows - maybe Ryle would have been in the State Championship game for the second straight year.

Harbin also played on defense at DB.
