The College Football Playoff selection process is an absolute joke.
The way the College Football season shaped up, the CFP Committee had an opportunity to do the most right thing with the smallest backlash. 
Alabama and BYU getting blown out in their conference championship games opened the door to put both Notre Dame and Miami in. 
Instead they dropped the ball and punished BYU for losing, didn’t punish Alabama for losing and then flipped Notre Dame and Miami despite neither of them playing a game. 
None of it makes sense. 
They did the thing that would give them the most backlash just to have 5 SEC teams in the playoff.
That makes everyone question the integrity of the process and rightfully so.

Any team that lost to FSU should be eliminated just on that alone so Alabama should be out.

Somehow Notre Dame losing to Miami by three points in the first game of the season is a big deal but no one wants to bring up Alabama losing badly to FSU because it was the first game of the season. 
This has a big money part to it. Each team gets $4 million dollars just for making the playoffs and shares it with their conference. The chairman of that selection board is the AD from Arkansas. They directly benefit from Alabama being in the CFP.

So why would ADs from other conferences or members with ties to other conferences and G5 schools want to rig the system for Alabama/SEC? The Chairman has one vote, not the final decision. He basically just keeps the meeting going and has to face the media. 

FWIW Arkansas has an athletic budget of $181,000,000. That $250,000 they get for their share from a SEC school getting in the CFP is literally a drop in the bucket.

Seems as if it was the ACC, Notre Dame's partner, which sank their chances at the CFP. Several stories coming out where ND is more upset with the ACC for chosing sides in the Miami/ND argument.

They don't get to be Independent and then expect the ACC to bend over backwards to make sure they get in the playoff. ND wants to be a part of the ACC when it benefits them. The ACC needs to tell them to kick rocks, join in football or find a new league for ALL their teams.

I wouldn't punish the other sports/teams but yes on the rest of it, cry me a river, ND. 

As all of you know I am a 16 team playoff man but this would be great too.  A boy can dream.

In years gone by I would agree that $250K was a drop in the bucket. But with the portal and NIL today, every dollar counts. That $250K can pay for a lot of lesser programs (golf, tennis, etc). That opens up dollars to bring in talent in your money making sports. I don’t care what your budget is, more dollars doesn’t hurt! 
As for other programs and how they felt, what’s their main gripe with Notre Dame. They are not in a conference. They don’t have to play in a conference championship game. They don’t share that $4 million dollars (more if they keep winning in the playoffs). They get to keep it all. And that AD leader has one vote, but he can have influence. Not saying he did do these things, but the way I’m reading about how ND was looked at, all angles have to be considered. And to be honest, I’m not a Notre Dame fan, but I wasn’t thrilled with his reasoning for excluding ND. 

Some of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision games have been very entertaining, but having to wait a week for the big show is painful.
