@VF111 Pulaski’s line is better than OC’s line? Are they bigger than Wofo’s line? I have a hard time believing their line is that good but they lost to JC and SW the way they did. How are their athletes?

I totally agree, I was thinking this could be the best game next weekend. Either winning wouldn’t surprise me and both are playing very good football. Good luck to both teams, just what should be wanted for a state championship game.

I love my Ravens but I agree, Owensboro is a whole different animal. Pulaski will also lose their home field advantage and have to play in a neutral area. 
 

I think it’s Owensboro’s game having watched both teams play now.

Pulaski could not stop those two offenses.. and it changed their style of play.   Pulaski O Line is pretty strong, starting with d1 prospect Brady Hull.

Yeah I saw their Oline earlier today on film. Pulaski has some grown men on that line. Devils will have their hands full that’s forsure.

Pulaski is a great team no doubt, maybe these are the top 2 and RPI is actually pretty good!  O has faced many big line teams - CAL and X were able to do what they wanted for the most part, couple that with a new coach who had only been in Owensboro a couple months, a new QB (first ever start) and our guys were lost and you get the shellacking.  Get those games later in the season, we perform much better.  Other big lines OCath (which Beechwood just got a taste of).  And OC was missing their 6-8 275lb tackle in the Beechwood game, Hendo, Greenwood, Madisonville, DC.  All much bigger lines than us.  I think Pulaski CAN move the ball some.  Can they do it all night?  Can they stop Owensboro’s offense?  If Owensboro forces 3 to 4 punts on the night, I think O wins 2-4 TD’s.  If Pulaski gets behind 14, what is the strategy?  Stick to the guns I would guess.

I DO think these are the best 2 teams.  If you’ve tracked my takes, I’ve always thought O was in the top 2-3.  Cooper had beaten Ryle, but Scott County plasters them, Atherton plasters a down BG team, Wofo solidly beats Scott County, Pulaski shuts down Atherton, but Owensboro DESTROYS Wofo.  Big huge lines on both sides for WOFO.  They did move the ball some but no points.  Either Pulaski and O are really close or Owensboro is far and away the top 5A team.  I’m inclined to think Pulaski is right there with O after last week.  Looking forward to a good game.

I will add that I think Pulaski will run play clock to near zero each play, and that is smart.  While O may not get as many points this game due to number of possessions.  I still think they score 4 TD’s.  If Pulaski gets down 21 and has to play fast, then O will score 40+. 

 

@Brown I’m leaning towards O being the top team in the class by a firm margin over the thought that those two are close. I respect Pulaski, and Coach Burns has done a great job. Just feel it’ll be too much.

The big question for me is how would Apollo do against Pulaski County? ?

I respect that from a fellow BG fan (I was a fan for 2 weeks during the coaching search).

Once again, because it needs to be said, the 5A game time is criminal, and the fact that the KHSAA does not afford the schools in 5A the experience of Friday game times, or even one of the earlier Saturday game times, is a travesty. 

I would rather play Thursday night than play Saturday at 8 pm EST. At least then you would get to celebrate on Friday as a school and community.

If the Saturday game is quick and ends at 10 pm EST, and it takes teams 45 minutes to get on the bus... 

Owensboro will get home around 11:30 PM CST.

Pulaski will get home around 1:15 AM EST. 

I’m going Pulaski in an upset. Burns come up under Chuck Smith serving on his staff and continues to use some of Smith’s defensive principles   I’m sure he will have a great defensive game plan. Pulaski 28-21

As will Owensboro and from the looks of things, that is a very tough place to play. 
 

Pulaski has played in some neutral site and away places this year. I think away from home doesn’t hurt Pulaski anymore than Owensboro.

They are differently tough places to play, having been at both as the opposing team. Owensboro and BG are similar for home field advantage but Pulaski as a team from Louisville was an entirely different experience. I'll leave it at that.

If you don’t mind I wish you could elaborate for somebody like myself that’s never been to a Pulaski game. How are the fans different from O’s and BG’s?

Just curious on what home field advantage that Pulaski may have had over Atheron? The penalties was almost identical for the game Atherton was penalized for 95 yards and Pulaski was penalized for 90 yards. If it wasn't for the bone headed personal foul by the Arherton player on Pulaski's QB when he scored the last TD then Pulaski would have been penalized more. The Atherton coach stayed on the field and absolutely influenced more calls than anything the Pulaski coaching staff did. Anyone that wants to rewatch the game it's still up on Lake Cumberland Sports Facebook page.
