DCA over Washington County by 32 in a scrimmage.

I see the most parity that we have seen in years. It won’t surprise me one bit if any of the top 6 teams (per the above rankings) end up as the best team. I’m not sold on DCA at the top. While they ha

  • The joke I've heard made by people in all four districts is one prominent coach will probably retire but it is implemented!

  • It depends on the makeup of your program to some degree (do I have a lot of football players, are we an “A” school, what is our fundraising capacity and ability to travel?). But generically: - mi

They started slow and weren't rotating well on defense so they only won the first quarter by 4.  After they got that fixed they looked really good.  Ben Mikels, the new player, is a real positive addition.

Rockcastle played Apollo last Saturday.  Won 3/4 Qtrs. (Reset each qtr).  Ended up winning by about 13 overall.  Heard Apollo wasn’t full strength but they were big.  Rock looked good. Played well.  Walker Craig is looking good as well as Jace Rogers.  Team plays solid defense, has the capability to light it up from outside if everyone is on.

They beat Harrison today by 9.  Did not play as well.  1-12 from 3 but they do get after it on defense.  Play physical and pick up full court.  47th district is going to be tough again this year

What kind of size does Rockcastle have?

Not a ton… a few years ago they would have had decent size but not anymore?.  Walker is 6’6” maybe 6’7”, jace is 6’4” but has a big body and presents a huge mismatch for most guards.  Colton Cash and Maddux Parsons are 6’3”ish.  Goodin is 6’2” with a big wing span but not very thick.  Everyone else is 6’1” or smaller.

Uh…that’s a good sized team!

Somerset defeated Sayre out of Lexington today by 15.  Kole Grundy was @ a USA Baseball event.  Football players were out as well.  Absher led the charge with 30 points.

I saw a report Bourbon Co. may have defeated West Jessamine today by 10.  Maybe some people from the North can help report on that.  Lincoln Co. was scrimmaging @ Clay Co. today but haven’t heard anything from that.

I believe the Somerset Christian Cougars picked up a scrimmage win against Nicholas Co. yesterday (rated fairly high in the 10th region).  The Cougars will be a team to keep an eye on.  They return a SR. Backcourt of Jack Baker and Isiah Hensley, and ultra athletic Omari Harvey is back from an injury that derailed their season last year.  Remember, this team defeated Wayne Co. and Southwestern in Jan.  The 48th district is the most balanced one in the whole region.

Heard from scrimmages in Russell County yesterday. Clinton beat Southwestern by 2. Clinton was up double digits and looked to be on the verge of running away with it in the second half and SW came back and either tied it or even pulled ahead by 1 or 2. Very physical and scrappy game.

Wayne beat Allen County Scottsville by 18. Phillips was Phillips and Farmer played for Wayne. Ryder Bell seemed to bounce back well from injury posting a double double. With Wayne losing Rice and Edwards at point, Morgan (jr) played the majority at point with Phillips sharing duties a few plays and (fr) Gehring getting in a few plays as well. This was a big question going into the season. My guy felt like they played pretty good but the pieces don't exactly fit right now with 2 key players out and bringing a player back in to what was a rocky situation.

Harlan Co. defeated Lincoln Co. 60-46 in their scrimmage.  Looks like Lane Sergant led the Patriots with 17 PTs.

Nelson County beat East Jessamine by about 10 yesterday in a preseason scrimmage held at East.   Unsure of the final score.

I heard that Mercer lost at Clay 30-80!!

Lincoln also played Harlan Co. before that and did not look good against a revamped team (from what I was told).

Any news on West Jessamine, Pulaski, or McCreary? I haven’t seen any scrimmage scores posted on them.

Pulaski is at Garrard tonight and at a tournament at South Laurel this Friday.  I haven't heard about the other two.
