The biggest game of the district. Owensboro travels to Madisonville North Hopkins to take on the Maroons.

The Maroons are coming off a 40-49 upset loss from Apollo.

The Devils are coming off a 52-0 win of Muhlenberg Co Mustangs.

Who ya got??

MNH is physical and Hightower is a stud but they are too unbalanced on offense to keep pace with Owensboro’s offensive. Red Devils secondary isn’t a group you want to lob passes against which the Maroons did against Apollo and paid for it. I imagine the same would happen against the Red Devils. I expect Hightower to break a few long runs but O should have him in check for the most part.

Apollos wide out made a living against MNH on the hitch and WR screens. Owensboro WRs are much better than Apollo’s. Dillard, Morris, Bryant and Burk could have a field day. Hampton is going to be Hampton at RB, give him space and you’ll lose the race. If O comes ready to play this game shouldn’t be close.

I expect Owensboro to be too much in the end.  But I do expect Madisonville to upset with the way they played against and perhaps overlooked a very underrated Apollo team in their loss last Friday.

Will this account for anything?  I'm not sure.

Madisonville needs to put on the Scott County game plan and just execute.  4 yards and a cloud of dust all night.  I just think Owensboro is too talented offensively.  But so was Tilghman.  And it's at Madisonville which is a very tough place to play.

I still like Owensboro, but I'm not sure of the score margin.

If we overlook Madisonville it will be a close one. I know the “luster” as purples88 eluded to has gone away from this game since Apollo beat Madisonville, but we better get focused. It won’t be easy.

I think the loss to Apollo will refocus the Maroons. I still like Owensboro to win this game though. 28-14.

Owensboro by 3 touchdowns.  I thought a few weeks ago this would be a big game, but with the Apollo loss and their squeak past Graves, I think MNH may have been fooling us some.

MNH still put 40 up on Apollo with 450 yards of offense - it wasn’t like thy were stopped much (although they were in the 1st half).  Once they had to pass it resulted in 2 pick 6’s by Apollo.  North still beat PT.  Apollo is better than some of us realize, and they are capable - especially offensively.  Yes MNH is one-dimensional offensively, but they haven’t really been stopped for a full game by anyone.  I chalk this up to Apollo just came and outplayed them by enough to win the game.  I’m not buying MNH is overrated, just that 5A has a lot of parity and Apollo was a bad matchup for them.  They will try to run the ball and use all the clock against Owensboro.  I think if they hadn’t panicked against Apollo, they could have won the game.

I’ll still take O by 10 as it’s at North Hopkins.  31-21 Devils.

I wouldn't put it past Madisonville beating us. I really don't. I think the kids are ready to play and it's showing on the field. They have been waiting for this game for a while.

That truly would shuffle things around some for playoffs and would be interesting to say the least.  I guess we shall see Friday night.

While I am looking at Oboro, can anyone explain this?

Can anyone confirm if we will have "James Green" coverage since this is an away game?

I would say yes with high probability.  I believe his kid is the starting safety and heckuva backup running back.  He films everything.
