Awesome, last time I preferred the 859 video because it was consistent vs. switching cameras all the time and missing things.

With Scott County offense, who knows how many camera fake outs there will be on the Highlands channel LOL

SC Cooper round two of the playoffs in 2023. Officiating was iffy all game then really blew up towards the end, as did both teams. SC racked up 200+ yards in penalties both teams had players/coaches ejected.

Bad look for the officials at the time. The game got out of hand mostly due to their actions not to say the players are innocent but things were avoidable.

You must remember something else. The game started with officials running guys from both teams off due to kneepads not covering knees. Cooper forced a fumble on the 1st play from scrimmage.

In the 3rd quarter of the game Scott Co chain guy was removed from the field by a Police Officer due to him saying something to an official because Cooper was winning by at least 3 scores by that point.

Then not long after that, cooper had a kickoff from the Scott County 35 yardline thanks to all of the unsportsmanlike penalties on the players and coaches after a Cooper TD. It wasn't both sides. It was most definitely 1 side.

I remember it all. What about the Timmy Emongo injury that led to a Cooper players ejection? That seems to of slipped your mind from that night. The idea that SC was alone in the crap that went on is absurd. Sure, our QB coach grabbed an officials flag and threw it, some things may of been thrown onto the field as well but all of that happened due to poor officiating in a high stakes game. In hockey terms, they let the game get away. Once the game gets away you will never get it back.

I believe you are completely misremembering things in regards to that game, as Cooper didn't have a single player or coach ejected, and definitely no where near as many penalties especially unsportsmanlike penalties.

Both teams at the start of the game definitely had to deal with knee pad gate, with officials sending multiple players from both teams to the sidelines for knee pads not being low enough. The only team that was racking up unsportsmanlike penalties majority of the game though was Scott County especially in the 4th quarter. As you mentioned things got really ugly in the 4th quarter. Including a coach or someone on Scott County's sideline for SC picking up a flag and throwing it in the stands, then multiple Scott County players throwing punches in the hand shake line, and police having to literally grab the Scott County players. So definitely interesting hearing you state that both sides were equally bad in what occurred. I don't think many people at all would share your opinion on that.

With that said, the year before that things went just fine, and then I do believe things went just fine last year when the two teams met again. Which it is looking like it will now by the 4th year in a row that Cooper and Scott County will meet in the playoffs. So it is becoming a nice little rivalry for sure.

Back on topic I think this game will help HHS.  It gives the defense a chance to see an offense that runs a lot miss direction and is run heavy.  Helpful if HHS runs into JC in the playoffs.

There were exactly 0 players for Cooper ejected that night.

At the time of the Emongo injury I thought a cooper player was ejected. Admittedly, I have never rewatched, or listened to that game but going back through my notes on the game it looks like you’re correct. Not sure why I remember it that way!

Our former assistant QB coach did indeed grab a flag and throw it that was about the only entertainment we had that night. The same player who threw punches in the hand shake line was responsible for almost all the antics started on the 23/24 teams until his eventual removal from the team. Good player, but a hot head.

SC and Highlands had a rivalry for a while that’s being reignited a bit at least the next two seasons, fun to have another NKY school in the mix now.

If Highlands can play the fullback well they’ll win the game. If you let the fullback plays get big chunks it’s anyone’s ball game.

JC runs an easier offense to tell where the ball is going, at least in my opinion. If you have disciplined athletes, you’ll be fine. Not to mention, they’ve thrown the ball 15 times all season. If Highlands meets them in November, their key to win will simply be get JC in throwing situations. If they can do that, JC probably can’t do much at that point. Easier said that done, but they can stop SC they can definitely stop JC.

I believe Highlands size on the d-line will be more than enough to disrupt the wing T in this one. As said before the defensive ends for Highlnads are long and do a good job containing and are certainly big enough to stuff a pulling guard or tackle. If the Birds stay patient and run the ball they win by a couple of scores.

I agree JOAT and Scott County has owned Highlands:

Aug 24, 2012    Highlands    60    Scott County    37
Sep 4, 2015    Scott County    54    Highlands    28
Sep 2, 2016    Scott County    42    Highlands    33
Aug 31, 2017    Scott County    71    Highlands    20
Aug 31, 2018    Scott County    28    Highlands    7
Nov 11, 2022    Scott County    29    Highlands    23    (2022 Class 5A Playoffs)

I didn't realize we have been that bad against Scott County.

Why is that?

Scott Co. were kings of the 859 then. Nobody outside of Louisville was beating the Cards.

The Highlands Defense is built for this one and Scott County will not be able to stop the Bluebird offense.

I hope you’re right! Depends on which offense shows up. The one that owns the line of scrimmage and time of possession or the one that’s asked to throw 35+ times.
