Bengals 33 Steelers 31

Beating the Steelers is always sweet especially without Burrow and Hendrickson.   Flacco and Chase did whatever they wanted.  Total domination offensively.   Watt non factor and good to see the running game get going.

  • Maybe Burrow will learn from this and start throwing the ball away.  People who said that Burrow was responsible for some of the sacks were routinely dismissed.  After 2 games, it sure seems like they

A big thank you to @MaddenCurse44for buying a ticket and supporting the Bengals franchise and seeing the Bengals win and see Chase dominate Ramsey and the whole Steelers secondary! I would say another

I don’t know if he is cooler under pressure. However, he definitely is fine with throwing the ball away if pressured or nothing there. While Burrow will end up taking hits cause of him looking to exte

The bengals are 3 and 4. Good news though they are 2 and 0 in the Division and 3 and 1 in the conference. Which all helps in tiebreakers if it came down to that.

Yet it still was enough. ?

Flacco had a better game 31/47 342 yards 3 tds and 0 ints

Brown just 11 carries for 108 yards and 9.8 yards per carry

Chase 23 targets 16 catches for 161 yards 1 TD

Higgins 10 targets for 96 yards 1 TD

I’ve always been old school (surprise) with respect to football.  Probably comes from having an old school football coach dad.

Nothing wrong with searching for a silver lining.  But for the most part, moral victories are for losers.

Scoreboard.

Is what we have seen out of Joe Flacco so much different than what we had with Ken Anderson back in the day?  Anderson was a rather immobile pocket passer, who made a career out of flair passes and handing off the football to his backs.  In very rare occasions was he a threat to run himself, but like we saw from Flacco last night, Anderson would occasionally pick up a few yards and then give himself up.

Flacco, even in this state of his career still has a quick release, a strong throwing arm, far superior receivers, and can connect with the long ball.

The trick to his having continued success until we can get Joe 1.0 back, is to get some modicum of protection from his O-Line.  Duh!

Just sayin!  Anderson played here for 16 years, and is bantered as a Hall of Famer,  with much the same tools that Flacco still possesses today.

From Facebook:

Ken Anderson- NFL MVP (1981), Offensive POY (1981), Comeback POY (1981), 1st team All Pro (1981), 4x Pro Bowler (1975, 76, 81, 82), 2x Passing Yardage Leader, 3x Completion Percentage Leader, 4x Passer Rating Leader. Criminally underrated.

As I noted a few weeks back, if the Bengals could get a serviceable QB this season isn't over for them.  They have offensive weapons but without a competent QB it wasn't going to go anywhere.  Flacco was a good pickup.  He has periods of hot/cold streaks in his career but still has a cannon of an arm.  Bengals schedule softens a bit over these next few weeks too.

AFC North is still wide open as the Steelers face tougher opponents and Lamar comes back for the Ravens, who also have a soft schedule of games upcoming.

The Bengals looked great on O last night. Just get both Chase and Higgins the ball! The running game did not look as anemic as the first slew of games either.
