I'm not too sure about that.  Except for the wild Campbellsville game, Monroe hasn't given up more than 14 points in a game all season.  And since the opener Somerset has only given up 2 touchdowns before the opposition had a running clock on them.

Never mind.
Somerset 6 Monroe 3.

  • This is one of the most undervalued games across the whole state this week IMO.  Both good teams. I don't think whether they practiced last week or not has anything to do with who wins on Friday.

I never understand why coaches gives kids the whole fall break off from practice. Those are the teams that get bounced early in the playoffs.

I don't think whether they practiced last week or not has anything to do with who wins on Friday.  Both have had this game circled on their calender since the start of the season.  And both are well coached.

I haven't seen Somerset on film any, but I saw Monroe beat Barren County.  So, I'll take:

Monroe 28

Somerset 27

I would say the majority of programs, who are off from school fall break, probably take the week off practice. Mostly because I would say families take vacations, and not the kids fault they are not in town to practice.

I don’t think it matters if Somerset wins it will probably be because they are the better team. They have the whole return week to get ready I don’t see it being a problem.

Watch out for Reece Bartley (#3) for Monroe Co., he had 193 yards receiving and 2 tds vs Campbellsville.

A junior, this is his first year of high school football after starring in middle school.

Both teams strengths offensively seem to play to the other team's weak spot on defense.  When Somerset has been hurt on defense this season, it has usually been through the air.  And Monroe County has struggled to stop the run.  So this game might be a little higher scoring that I initially thought.  Somerset has shown a pretty good pass rush, with 26.5 sacks so far on the season.  In addition to Bartley, isn't the Nuckols kid about 6'3"?  That certainly presents a matchup issue.  I'm not sure what to predict on this one.

If Monroe can stop the run they have a chance, but that’s a big if after  the game with Campbellsville.

Monroe's opening drive stalls near midfield and put, Somerset to start on the 18.

Chris Hughes with 70+ yard TD run on 3rd and 2.

Somerset 7

Nothing fancy from Somerset.  No fakes, or zone reads.  Just 3 power runs.  Great start.
