@Kyfootballking - OC won those 3 not saying O should have won ( just pointing out they were very tough wins that came down to end) with 2022 being the biggest win of the entire series.  As I thought about what might happen this time, I reflected on the last 3…they were all tight games…to OCs credit in ‘22 and to Owensboro's credit the next 2 because OC was better.  I do think if you swap QB’s O wins pretty badly in last 2…that’s a complement to how great Atwell was…much better than our QB at the time who was a decent QB.

I won’t be shocked either way, OC a great program but I feel if both teams play to their ability O will win.

I heard we picked up the James brothers from Catholic? What is going on?

Owensboro 35-14

Catholic's reputation this year has been built on beating a BG team that has since changed QBs and was down all three starting WRs, one of whom (Barber) entered the season as a legit Mr. Football candidate, as well as their most versatile defensive player, Jaxon Smith.

Owensboro's reputation took a beating from what now looks like two losses to the #2 and #3 overall teams in KY (take your pick between CAL and X as to who is #2 and who is #3).

Having seen both Owensboro and BG against St. X, I think BG is better so why I think OC beats Owensboro. They are better in the trenches than Owensboro.

This is exactly how I feel. Most the hype of OC is from winning against BG with all the stars aligning in their favor. The next 2 wks proved that to be the case. DC hung in there with OC for a half and Apollo played with them for an entire game.  I think if BG and OC played again today the score would be very different than the 1st go around. O should win this if everyone is healthy and ready to go

Can’t the same be said about watching O playing Daviess County vs OC playing Daviess County? Owensboro handled them way easier.

I know OC will bring pressure but will it be the same pressure St. X and CAL brought and are OC’s DB’s good enough to cover Dillard long enough for the pressure to get to Ganaway Jr?

I guess Owensboro was so bad against St. X it's still fresh in my memory but teams can improve so maybe Owensboro is better. I'll still pick Owensboro Catholic but I could be wrong. Why they play the games.

“Hello you play to win THE GAME”

3 in a row for Catholic but 2022 was a last minute Hail Mary that got them a last minute TD against a team that was missing several defensive starters, namely Jeremiah Goodwin, and Kanye Johnson.  That was probably OC’s best win of the entire history of this series.  It moved to Rash in 23 against a not very good O team.  Atwell had to complete a 4th and 9 or so in the last minutes drive and be pushed into end zone on last possible play to get the W.  Last year O wasn’t much better but ok and had the lead in the 4th and Atwell added a go ahead TD and then tacked another on in the last minute.  Atwell was the difference in each game - and without him I really believe O wins all those games and the last 2 rather easily.

To start season, I thought this was O’s game easily - even after O buried Mayfield and played to a tie with south warren, while Catholic couldn’t stop Tighlman, I still thought this was O’s game.  But make no mistake, BG is down somewhat from my perspective (at least BG weeks 1 and 2)…and CAL and X would throttle Owensboro Catholic as bad as they did O.

This comes down to Hampton - I’ve heard he was pulled as a precaution last week.  He gets a crease, he’s gone.  Catholic doesn’t have that.  Edge is good, but he’s not going to beat everyone the way Hampton can.  Hampton looked burst out of cannon on the first run against County.  Green is also a punishing back, similar to Edge for OC.  I think O’s defense will bend some, but not break.  It’s at Rash and O will be fired up.  I think O wins if Hampton plays.

O 31-14

This is going to sound crazy but IMO the offense looked better when Hampton left the game. I don’t know if it’s that the play calling gets more predictable with Hampton in the game or what.  But Green scored a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown after subbing in the game. Green isn’t the break away threat Hampton is but he may be quicker in those 4-5 yard bursts.

I’ve been saying since last yr he needs to be a Receiver. He has great hands and him catching the ball one on one in space is where he would strive the most. Hampton is nit elusive like Green who can make you miss at the line of scrimmage if a block is missed and will be at max speed 3yards past the line of scrimmage. Hampton is a north and south kind of runner who just out runs you.

I also felt like the offense was better w/o Hampton. Way to predictable play calling when he’s in.

I think the deal was that he's not allowed to stream home games due to the NFHS agreement, but we shall see.

That's great for Middle School Girls Soccer (ton of that on NFHS), but it's terrible for football.

Owensboro’s offensive and defensive lines could have their hands full against Catholic’s size and strength up front. From everything I’ve seen and heard, Catholic’s O-line has put on a blocking clinic in every game so far. Miles Edge stands out as the biggest impact player on both sides of the ball for the Aces. For Owensboro to have a chance, they’ll need to shut down Catholic’s running game. If the Red Devils fall behind and are forced to rely solely on the passing attack, it’s hard to picture them pulling out the win. As always, the battle in the trenches will be the deciding factor in tomorrow’s game. Best of luck to both teams!
