If Southwestern wins the district, will they be the only 4 seed to do so in the state?

Can't image it happens much. 22nd District in Louisville (Butler, DeSales, Doss, Iroquois, and Western) has traditionally been among the most balanced where a 4 might could win it, but probably not this season.

Both of these are upsets in my book. Like decent sized upsets and something each of these programs can build on going into next year.

Danville has been in the bottom rung of the region all season. Can they ride the magic? DCA, though a power, relies so much on defense and pace of play. That makes them capable of beating almost anyone in the state but also vulnerable to get beat in a rock fight by a less talented team.

Having Graves back on inside helps, and Paige on outside is capable scorer.  I believe he had 26 points tonight.

For Garrard Co., it’s extremely hard to beat a team 3X.  Winning record, a lot to be proud of for the Golden Lions.

I checked the Massey Ratings for the 12th region and tallied the top 3 teams in several categories as well as a list of the overall ratings.  I also included the top 3 based on RPI.

Overall ranking:

DCA -24    PC - 61    Mercer - 63

Offense:

PC - 71     Southwestern - 102      Boyle - 123

Defense:

DCA - 5      Lincoln - 13      Mercer - 14

Strength of Schedule:

DCA - 70      Mercer - 72      PC - 81

Regional Massey Rankings

  1. DCA - 24
  2. PC - 61
  3. Mercer - 63
  4. Lincoln - 79
  5. West Jessamine - 83
  6. Boyle - 88
  7. Southwestern - 106
  8. Wayne - 107
  9. Somerset - 114
  10. McCreary - 133
  11. Garrard - 136
  12. Somerset Christian - 164
  13. Rockcastle - 168
  14. East Jessamine - 180
  15. Danville - 183
  16. Trinity - 232
  17. Burgin - 266
  18. Casey - 276
  19. KSD - 296

RPI:

1.  DCA - .68455         2.  Mercer - .58590         3.  PC - .56613

Don’t know how Massey works exactly but did notice that 3 of the top 5 in the 12th record was wrong according to KHSAA records. Pulaski is 17-10 on Massey but 16-10 on KHSAA. Mercer is 18-10 on Massey but 19-10 on KHSAA. West is 15-8 on Massey and 16-8 on KHSAA. It said they were using games through 2/22 so all games should be included as none of them played Sunday.

First winning season since 07/08. Coach Mcray did a great job this year. He played Lincoln close 2x, beat Danville 2x, played Boyle close 2x, he's getting Garrard on the right path. 45th District is a tough District to play in and win. Toughest District in the 12th Region!

Garrard went 20-9 in the 2008/2009 season. Advocate Messenger was one year off in their post.

For sure!  Will be tough to replace Noe though, but definitely did a nice job.

That team was very solid!  They ran the Princeton Offense well, and would drain the 3 ball!

I got Lincoln beating Boyle. Lincoln will shoot the lights out on Boyle's zone defense, just like they did last time.

Well, they didn't shoot the lights out the first game.  This game is a tossup because with these two teams you don't know who will show up and which will shoot good.   I have to go with my Rebels.

Will be a dog fight for sure!
