Kentucky 82 Vanderbilt 61

Final. A good win for the Cats. I thought they played a very good 2nd half especially on the defensive end. Vandy who shot near 55% in the first half ended the game only shooting 40% and the Cats came back on the boards after being down 6 at the half to even it for the game at 30. They only allowed 3 offensive rebounds in the 2nd half after giving up 8 in the first half. They also cut down the points in the paint for Vandy from 20 in the first half to only 14 in the 2nd half. They will need this 2nd half intensity on Saturday at Bama. Go Cats!!

Good win and great second half! Let’s go get a big one on the road Saturday!

Bama is going to be fired up if this continues as they are down 18 at Missouri with still 2 minutes left in the first half.

Solid win after an ugly first half. I was multitasking while watching the game but it seemed like whatever Pope said at half time, worked.

Typical Ky game without the big two, inconsistent on defense and streaky shooting offensively, must win and keep moving forward with those young guys and couple of vets.

Chandler's best game of the year.

I thought so as well.  You definitely saw glimpses of what the future Chandler could look like when he gets more seasoned. I see some fun razzle dazzle no look passes in the future by him.

This is totally hypothetical but I believe if Kentucky had the healthy roster they had at the first of the year, the one that defeated Duke, they would have around 5 less losses right now. They’re winning games like this one and the one at Tennessee with a patched up incomplete roster. They have missed Karrisa much more than many realize but the one player whose absence is difficult to work around is Butler. Hopefully they will get him and Robinson back asap.

By the way, Big Z that smoked the Cats with a bunch of 3s in their home loss to Arkansas was 0-9 from behind the arc last night in their loss at Arkansas. If he could have conjured up his UK magic last night they may have upset Auburn.

I don’t know if it would be 5 less losses even if healthy. As this teams defense was horrible even when healthy, but I do agree they would have a couple less losses if fully healthy.

Pretty much how I feel. Probably around that 4th or 5th range in the SEC.

You know on Senior Night a walk-on starts a game but makes a handful of plays and the crowd goes nuts, that is what last night felt like for Chandler. Last night was a step in the right direction for Chandler, no doubt, and let's hope it continues to build his confidence. But, the dude can barely dribble and he can't guard a phone booth, so I'm still leaning toward this being a blip rather than a preview of what's to come.

I choose to have faith, the kid didn't touch a ball in 2 years.  He was a stud coming out of High School and opted to go do his mission work.  He is definitely a work in progress in my mind.  I am just glad last night showed some "progress".  I love that Pope has created nuggets of opportunities for players like Noah, Perry and now Chandler throughout the season b/c due to injuries these guys are much needed right now to weather the storm before we get a healthy Butler, Robinson and Kriisa back.

Have Hope with Pope!!!!

I'm ignorant when it comes to this stuff. I know he did the two-year mission thing, but are those who complete this prohibited from training at all? Again, ignorant on the subject.

Based on the very limited research the google machine has given me it looks to me like it would be very difficult to do anything that isn't related to your mission purpose.  For example, the workouts that you would be able to do would consist of whatever you can do in the confines of your apartment or living quarters you are staying in, wouldn't be joining a gym or have access to a workout facility.  Playing pick up basketball anywhere probably didn't happen at all or at least not frequently.  Sounds to me like its pretty full go on mission work only...

With that being said I am giving Chandler a lot of grace on his progress, coming into a program like Kentucky....I think here is a kid that will work his butt off to improve as fast as he can. Hopefully glimpses of what we saw last night is just a step in the right direction, not a blip anomaly.

Ditto! Rooting for the guy. I can't imagine what that would be like.
