I watched the video a few times, wow. 

I agree a player should be ejected for "throwing" another player like that.

My opinion video looks a little worse than it was. Their arms were tangled when it happened. I think officials got the call right but also agree they let it get chippy in the 2nd half.

I hope it wasn't as bad as it looked. 

That was excessive and unnecessary. They did get tangled but he threw him towards the wall that could’ve really injured the Walton player.

The only thing I would have done differently is ejecting #1 for throwing Gutman into the wall. Absolutely no place for that in basketball. I would have to imagine coach Hester will be sending the video into KHSAA to be reviewed. 

 

Steiner did a great job of controlling his team post-altercation, but I believe Hester could have controlled himself a bit more. 

Hester and control have seemed to not  go together lately. Heated district game , packed house I believe one of the WV coach got a technical in the JV game as well.  
 

Hester falls to 3-9 vs his old ball club. Very well done by #1 from WV after the game decided to shake the SK Coaches/Players hand after WV bypassed and went to the locker room(not saying this was the wrong decision by WV).

I don't see that play as worthy of ejection.

If KHSAA does look at video there will be a lot of suspensions for Walton players leaving the bench. SK staff did a great job keeping control of their players to make sure they didn’t storm the court and leave the bench. 

 

Is this a regulation-size court?   Maybe the markings make it look really small.

I doubt we did. The referees let it get way too physical on the Walton Verona offensive side, and then following possession they blew their whistle four times in a row on the Simon Kenton side of the court. They could’ve given the Walton Coach a technical, or even a warning. He could’ve given a warning or a T to the bench because all the coaches and players were standing up reacting to every call. 
 

Another thing I would like to see official start doing in tense situations is to not be so animated when they call foul. Why can’t they blow the whistle, put their fist in the air, and then report the foul? I see some of these refs they blow their whistle, look at the player, and almost shout “YOU’RE GRABBING HIS JERSEY,” or “THAT’S ON YOU, YOU’RE ALL OVER HIS ARM!!” This makes players think that a referee is yelling at them, thus raising the emotional level of the environment.

You can’t possibly tell me that 90 seconds before the altercation you couldn’t predict that something was about to blow up.

Simon Kenton’s assistant coaches seem more mature than Walton Verona’s. 
 

Another unfortunate thing is that due to this result now the Grant County Walton Verona game on Tuesday has absolutely no bearing on anything. I liked it better when all these teams played each other twice.

Every District should play twice. If for no other reason than the gate. Why wouldn’t you schedule your rivals twice for the huge crowds. Also, seeding is too important for it to hinge on which school gets home court that particular season.

It is always great to beat Walton especially after losing to Ryle Tuesday.
