The last four seasons St. X is 3-2 against Trinity on the varsity level. So Coach Wallace has done a good job of turning the tide on that front to make the rivalry more of one, even with last year being two butt kickings by Trinity. 
 

This group of juniors were really good as freshmen, so we’ll see how the development has gone with that group. The best players on the field for St. X this year were juniors, but the biggest area of concern is at the line of scrimmage. Not sure how one solves that problem in one year, but the Tigers will have to figure that part out.

I am mainly referring to losing to Manual 2/3 years and getting blown out in a playoff game by a team not named Male or Trinity.  Those things should not happen.  And add to that the deterioration of developing offensive linemen.

I am not saying Wallace is a bad guy or a bad coach.  I just think that he needs to adjust his tactics to add elements of physical play to what he already coaches well in order to maximize what St. X can do.  I am not advocating 3 yards and a cloud of dust.  Having an effective passing game is important.  I am saying that getting consistently whipped up front is not a good recipe for playoff success.

He is referring to James Burnett who is 2X state champion in the 400M and ran 10.85 in 100m at state meet last year.

I think it's all cyclical honestly.  The fact Glaser was able to win 2 championships during the Beatty era at Trinity speaks to what a coach he was.  Even Trinity had a few down years right after Beatty left.  I know some of the 8th grade kids that are planning to come to St. X and if they do (fingers crossed they don't ?), St. X will have a really nice freshman class to build off of next year.

I wish we could've gotten X in the playoffs this year...all I'll say on this!

Could they schedule a few more out of state teams, sure. But what other instate schools are willing to play St. X? And if they are would they be a better option that what they already have? Who would you remove other than Floyd Central? Ryle played CAL who go beat pretty handily by Central. They're not going to take Male off.

Last week someone posted to beat the big 3 in Louisville. You have to be physical and not play a soft schedule. Then Ryle Judy beat the brakes off of X.

You might want to look at the Will Wolford 5 year era at St. X before Wallace. In those 5 years the Tigers lost half as many games as they won and Trinity beat them 8 different times. Trend not good. At that same time, Trinity was Trinity, Male got better and better and FD came along in Lexington.

I totally agree with you in that regard.  The Wolford era was a disaster.  While I believe that Wallace could tweak some things about the program to improve, he is light years ahead of Wolford as a coach and in  running a program.
