Applying just a little basic math, the other 31 teams have averaged just a tick over two 30- point games.  The Bengals have had five.  I think we can agree that the biggest problem isn’t the placekicker.

Just part of the problem like so many of the players on this team are.

I do. If you like the other kicker, put McPherson on the reserve squad Keep him and his contract available.

I will add this. As great as Burrow has been, he has not made plays at the end of games to get us wins. Nothing we can do about that. Just making an observation. I believe this is the fourth loss wher

Saw this earlier today, if you add up those 6 seasons those teams lost a total of 12 games, we’ve obviously lost 7 already with more probably coming.

Biggest problem, no. A problem though that has a played a good role in the losses, yes.

The margin of error is incredibly small in the NFL. That is great Burrow has put up numbers, but how many of those stats are being compiled when the Bengals are behind? I am not saying his numbers are "empty calories," per se, but if the defense sucks the offense must find a way to produce early and often. That's just how it is. Otherwise, it requires near perfection to crawl back (or even keep pace) into the game and then these other facets, like kicking, come under even more scrutiny and pressure.

Honestly I don’t think many of his numbers have come from having to play from behind or in garbage time. The Bengals only have 3 games this year where they trailed at half time. Which were the Patriots, Commanders, and Chargers. The Bengals have two losses this year where they didn’t even have to punt. I believe another loss where they only punted once. Were leading the Chiefs and both Raven games at halftime. Quite honestly this Charger game was really the only game they got behind big, all other games they were right in it or even leading at half.

No way I cut him. But it is in his head now and the Bengals have zero margin for error. They can't wait on him to work it out. They lost last night trying to let him work it out.  If there is a better option for the next game, sign the kicker and play him. Mixe Mcpherson to reserves. I also like the message it sends the team.

There are teams with kickers who are hurt that would snatch McPherson up if he is placed on the practice squad.  You have to let him work it out and maybe bring someone in to training camp to compete next year.

At his salary?

It's hard for me to feel bad for Burrow throwing to Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins with a bad defense, after I've watched Herbert have a terrible defense his whole career essentially besides this year and he's throwing to Ladd, Josh Palmer, and 47 tight ends.
