Highlands 20 Covington Catholic 14 (NKY Frosh Championship)

Featured Replies

In a game with a whole lot of penalties on both sides of the ball, the Highlands Baby Birds come away with the 2024 NKY Freshman Regional Football title.

Really great game by Colt Kremer...Cov Cath didn't really have much of an answer for him at all tonight.

Congratulations to the Birds on the win, and to the Colonels for a solid 8-2 season, with their only losses coming in Week 1 and then tonight in Week 10 at the hands of Highlands.

Really a great 2nd half by the Colonel’s.   Good show gentlemen.

I thought both teams looked solid and there should be some good years ahead.

Nice watch for a Wednesday night too.

Fun game to watch indeed!!

THE RIVALRY looks strong and healthy for years to come.

The Touchdown Club of Fort Thomas posted a team picture of the Champs:

Colt Kremer is the best Freshman RB I have seen since Gabe Williams also from Highlands in 2023. Wow they have some Studs coming through.

Kremer was extremely impressive and I can't wait to see him play the next three years.

Wow! Great game! And what a great vibe. Felt like a Friday Night game. Estimated about 2500 at the game. And to say the rivalry stills lives is an understamemt to say the least. Full moon and all!

Congrats to both teams! Happy Colt Kremer is at Highlands! What a player.

Great game!  Great season. This Highlands group has overcome alot!  Back to back years with one loss.  Beating the Colonels twice after losing to them 48-0 twice in 7th grade.  Some great coaching in 8th grade gave these kids some hope.

Tonight’s game, I saw a few kids make some great key plays who won’t get any mention on here.   On the fumbled punt return.. Andrew Myers working hard and recovering the punt that sparked the 1st touchdown.  Offensive line led by Jaden Stricker.. played great all season.. maybe gave up 4 sacks all season.  Making holes for Kremer.  The wide receivers led by Colin Davis, Ben Kuhnhein and Carson Hoeh.  Kuhnhein keeps getting better and Hoeh had a great route and catch that sealed this game.  Anytime the offense needed a big play or bailed out on 3rd and long.. they got it done tonight and all season. On defense, the anchor on the line.. Big #68 Kaden Sturdevant.  Kid will be a problem.  Corners and safeties coming up big with an interception.  Great job by the Birds!

Congratulations to Highlands on a big win and to Covington Catholic on a great season! It's always a treat when these two programs get together. You never know what could happen in high school sports, and that especially applies when Highlands and Cov Cath go at it. Two of the best!

I thought I caught a couple quick glimpses of someone with photo gear camped out on the sideline. Should have known it would be Wayne. That's a great shot!

That is a great shot but Wayne is a Pro with a ton of experience so I expect great shots like that from him.
