12th Region Boys Basketball Preview

Featured Replies

Well, Boyle will have their football players back a lot earlier than normal and than expected. They play Burgin on the 3rd but will have 3 full weeks of practice before playing their second game (which is against Southwestern).

With the extra time and everyone playing that is being rumored to be, I think there are high expectations for what they can do in the 12th this year. Lots of talent, size and athleticism. I think where they are rated preseason probably has more to do with how they’ve done the last few years than their actual potential.

  • It's an interesting exercise to try to predict what's going to happen based on last year's results but I'd also point out that every now and then a team will seemingly come out of nowhere to make life

I agree it is a pretty wide open region but you may have missed a few transfers that will shake your order up I believe  Lincoln also lost Mason Agee to Garrard Co so that leaves them completely

  • Everybody’s gonna miss a transfer or injury or two in a preseason writeup.    Great job.

I read that Brown was injured in the Boyle football game last night.  What was the nature of that injury?  Is it something that will keep him off the basketball court?

Pulaski and GRC will be on Fox @ appx 2:35.

Was a great game!

Just now leaving the PC/GRC game. PC is going to be really good once they get Anderson back. Fraley looked good, Farmer looked good, they play physical and tough basketball. I think they might be #1 team in the 12th.

Was he going to play this season anyway?  I know that Quisenberry wasn't expected to play, and there was some speculation that Brown would also sit out to get ready for college football/grayshirt.

I’m not sure.  I had heard that he wasn’t and then I heard that he was.

Yep, after watching that game, I don’t think there’s any question they’re the best team in the 12th. Very impressed with how they fared against a top 10 team. Before the game, I thought they’d lose by 15+.

I’ll be really surprised if they don’t repeat as regional champion. Such a well coached team with a feeder system that serves them well. The Fraleys are Pulaski County basketball!

Brown is definitely playing basketball. I talked to him a couple weeks ago and he told me he was playing.

I have said it multiple times here that until someone beats them they are the favorite.

In my opinion there are really only 4 teams that have a legitimate chance to do that. DCA with their size, Mercer has enough overall talent, Boyle ,if all their football kids play, have enough, and Southwestern with what they return plus Dumphord.

West could possibly, but I haven’t seen their big against varsity competition yet. If he is able to compete could move into that group.

Agreed.

Looks like Somerset will be last team waiting on football kids to get in this season, as they travel to Owensboro Catholic Friday, and open with Mercer Co. On Mon.

Lincoln Co., Somerset and Rock are all programs that have proven they can beat Pulaski Co. Throughout this run.  Maybe not as talented as the other contenders mentioned, but they’re familiar with them being district opponents and yearly matchup in Lincoln’s case.  I do think DCA, Mercer and Boyle present great threats with their size and rim protection ability.

As we saw Friday with the Boyle football game anything can happen is why we play the games.

Lincoln will in my opinion be a good 3 point shooting team and could get hot and beat them. Somerset is a cross town rival and those games bring out the best in teams that always pose an upset threat. Rock losing Craig I think gives them less of a chance but they have to play maybe 3 times and that’s always tough.

Puladki won’t go undefeated but it will be interesting to see who is able to get them when it counts ,if anyone is.
