Saint Xavier (3-2) will host Ryle (4-1) after a win over Trinity 16-10. Ryle is coming off an open week. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Last year, St. X beat Ryle 56-35.

St. X in their win against Trinity were led on offense by RB/WR Marlon Harbin who rushed for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns. Marlon also had an interception playing on defense. WR Lucas Shelton led the Tigers in receiving with 60 yards on 2 receptions. The defense was led by LB Luka Bentz who had 9 tackles and a sack. S Miles Dobson had 9 tackles and an interception. DE Erik Ekens had 7 tackles and 2 sacks.

Ryle on the season has been led by QB Nathan Verax who has passed for 741 yards with 9 touchdowns and has rushed for 168 yards and 1 touchdown. RB Jacob Savage has 342 yards rushing with 8 touchdowns and also has 152 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns. WR Landon Lorms has led the receivers with 349 yards and 4 touchdowns. The defense has been led by LB Jacob Savage with 47 tackles and 1 sack.

Based on the last couple of years plus the current performance of both teams, this looks like should be a competitive game. The St. X defense the last two games has played well holding both Elder (OH) and Trinity under 20 pts but Ryle has shown they can score against good teams so Ryle will be no pushover on offense. The key will be for Ryle to try and slow Marlon Harbin who is having a great season. The St. X defense will have to slow the Ryle trio of Nathan Verax, Jacob Savage, and Landon Lorms which is not easy, plus Ryle will be well rested and have had an extra week to prepare. Does St. X make it 4 straight over Ryle or does Ryle get a great road win?

I’m interested in seeing how Ryle does. They have been impressive on the season only losing to Cooper. I’m thinking St X wins probably with being there. I believe this game will be a solid indicator of what to expect of Ryle come postseason. Good luck to both teams.

St X is the clear favorite, at home and carrying the state's #1 ranking in 6A. Ryle has played in spurts and not come close to putting together a complete game. In order to pull the big upset, the Raiders have to be consistent for 48 minutes. That's easier said than done against a really good team like St. X.  I like Ryle's schedule. It's always great to test yourself against top-level competition. Best wishes to both teams and a few lucky bounces for the Raiders!
