Tilghman (4-0) at Hopkinsville (1-3)

In recent history, Hopkinsville has won 7 out of the last 10 in this series, with PT winning 44-14 a year ago.

Tilghman is in the midst of a 4 out of 5 game stretch where they'll be on the road, including the next 3. They don't play a home game again until October 18th.

Hopkinsville has matched their season total of one win from a year ago and do look better than what I saw from them last season early. Hopkinsville has played pretty well against the pass this year, but have been hurt badly on the ground. Given that PT doesn't run the ball as much, maybe that will make for an interesting matchup here and there.

Going into last nights game, Tilghman was throwing the ball 67% of their snaps on the year.

As I mentioned before, the PT defense has only allowed 3 td's against the starting unit thus far, pretty impressive. They have allowed some big plays here and there because they are so aggressive, and had multiple drives into their territory, but it's very hard to score at the end of the day.

John Aiden King, Hopkinsville's qb is a player to watch as he is also one of their leading rushers.

Hopkinsville seems to be competing better and will win a couple games this year. All that said, PT is on a different level than anyone remaining on their regular season schedule.

This one will be a clock runner.

I like this Hopkinsville team a lot, but no match for the Blue Tornado this coming Friday. Running clock at half.

Per Jared Jensen - QB Jack James is 6 passing TDs behind Sindelar for the state record!

Has anyone heard anything about the 5th year covid rules as far as stats/records go?

I have not heard anything on that.  But you are correct in that it is James 5th year.  I looked back and he shared time at QB his 1st Freshman year.  I think he ended up having 10 TD passes that year.

I don't have an answer for you, but it'll be interesting to see if the KHSAA does anything. At the very least, you gotta slap an asterisk on it.

James also has a shot at the career yardage record, as well, but he's got a ways to go on that one.

I totally agree with the * not only did he get a 5th year, but also he had several 5th year seniors WR. I do believe that is also a huge advantage. Just being honest here.

Has any other 5th year seniors broken records since the extra Covid year was implemented for football? Just wondering how KHSAA handled it. I remember this question coming up with Travis Perry breaking the career scoring record.

This surprised me, but it doesn’t look like Travis Perry ever repeated a grade.  The big difference being you can play varsity basketball in 7th grade in Ky and you obviously can’t play football in 7th.  Perry actually averaged 21 PPG in 7th grade - they mostly played small schools in Western Ky.  So Perry actually had 6 seasons to get the scoring record, but none of those were due to a holdback.
