The Frederick Douglass Broncos (1-2) travel across town to take on the Tates Creek Commodores (2-1). This game is scheduled for a 6:30pm kickoff. Both teams come into this game off of a loss and for the Broncos it is a 2-game losing streak. Tates Creek suffered their first loss of the season on the road at North Oldham 54-12. The Broncos fell on the road at Dupont Manual in OT 35-28.

The Commodores are led on offense by quarterback Darrell Burnside Jr. who is a junior and in 3 games has thrown for 417 yards and 5 touchdowns. They are led at running back by Bryan Evans Jr. in just 3 games so far this season the junior running-back has rushed for 682 yards including 310 in a win vs. Madison Southern. He is avenging 13.12 yards per rush. The leading wide receivers are the Cooper twins who have over 400 yards between them. The Tates Creek defense will need to improve vs. the Broncos as in 3 games they are giving up an average of just over 30 points per game.

The Broncos are led on offense by junior QB Jaxon Strautman who in 3 games has thrown for 5 TD's and 3 Int. The Broncos leading running back is sophomore Dakari Talbert who has rushed for 350 yards and 2 touchdowns. They have one of the best athletes in the state at WR in Aveion Chenault who is 3 games 255 yards receiving and has 6 touchdowns. The Broncos are led on defense by Kayden Clay and Logan Busson. The Broncos offense has sputtered at times this season I think this is a much-needed game for the Broncos, but one thing they cannot do is be looking ahead to a rematch the next week vs. Corbin.

The Broncos are 7-0 vs. Tates Creek all-time and Douglass will put their 29-0 record vs the other 5 Lexington public schools and 31-0 record vs. all schools in Lexington. The game should be on NFHS Network and at this time I am not sure if the game will be on any other streaming sites.

I watched Tates Creek against North Oldham and thought they threw it too much. They didn't protect well and the quarterback was throwing more than passing. Evans is a very solid running back but from my perspective he didn't get enough touches, especially early in the game. It won't matter against Douglass, who is a far superior team, but Tates Creek has some weapons and if they can play smart, focused football (they had a player ejected for fighting against North Oldham) they are capable of winning a game or two in the playoffs.

I agree and there top 4 offensive skilled players are all juniors.

Douglass 42-7.

FD with a running clock. I have a feeling this game gets really “chippy”.

It won't. A lot of 'tudes on the team got clipped after the Manual loss. An exchange w a Creek player on Friday will get you on the bench and out of the rotation quick and fast!

Aveion Chenault with the walkoff kickoff return for 6 to the house! Douglass leads 28-7 at the half.
