Word around both Pulaski and Wayne is that he will not be playing basketball this season.

Not playing at Wayne either? If so, that’s a shame. Does he play any other sports?

And that makes a huge difference for Pulaski. I realize they’ll still be good but not nearly as good as with him.

  • Their recovery ability is not any better than older players.  You can spot it if you know what you’re looking for.  Slow reaction time, lack of effort on the offensive boards, standing and watching, t

Until someone beats Pulaski they are the favorite. They return plenty and I think won both the JV and Freshman regions. Mercer had them on the ropes and couldn’t get it done. I read in another post th

Not playing basketball at all. I heard that from folks at Pulaski and Wayne that aren't connected so as of right now, it seems to be pretty legit.  I'm sure that could change before the season starts. I'm not sure on other sports but I've never heard anything other than basketball mentioned over the years.

Have you heard a reason?

Nothing that I would think is credible, just lots of opinions.

Given that he transferred from Wayne when Coach Woods was let go, and that he’s always been a Wayne basketball kid, I would guess that he wants to be at Wayne but doesn’t like the coaching situation. Total guess on my part but makes sense given the facts.

Unfortunate situation that the kid shouldn’t have had to deal with.

Regardless if the decision to remove Coach Woods was right or wrong (it was wrong), what is not playing one of your few years you get in high school going to do? The school is going to back whoever they hired, that's why they hired them.

Full disclosure, I have no inside knowledge as to his reasoning. But I wouldn’t assume he’s looking at it as what’s it’s “going to do.” At the end of the day, a kid should be playing the sport to have fun. If he doesn’t feel like he will have fun given the current situation, I certainly can understand why he wouldn’t play.

It may not mean anything but Farmer and Phillips are both listed on Wayne County’s roster for the upcoming season.

It must not mean much because Farmer should not be there.

You may be right.  I had heard that he's still at Pulaski.

KHSAA has moved to a new platform in AribiterSports, so I'm sure the athletic directors will update rosters closer to the start of the season.

It appears this may be the case judging from a couple WC boys basketball social media posts. I hope things work out for the best for all involved.

I have no idea how the 12th region will go this year but I think we'll see a real referendum on coaching in the 45th district this year.  There are several teams that could win it and make some noise in the 12th IF they are coached up.  There's no single team that appears to be dominant based on last year.

DCA:  Great size and 3 of the top players.  If it was 3 on 3 they'd probably be the favorite.  After the top 3 it's a question mark.  Coach Busick has experience in Indiana and a track record of developing big men.  If he can come up with a scheme to maximize their size advantage and get some of the younger guys to fill in adequately they should be in good shape.

Lincoln:  They lost some valuable players but have some good younger guys coming on.  Braden Fugate will help them.  They don't have a strong inside game based on what I saw in the summer.  They have Coach Jackson so I never count them out.

Boyle:  Their success will depend on whether or not the football players play basketball.  As of now the rumor is that Quisenberry and Brown are both going to skip basketball.  I've not heard about Brock Driver but he's signed to play college football as well.  That only leaves Turner and Seneca Driver with experience.

Garrard:  7-25 and 1-9 in the district.  I'd be surprised if they can compete for a district title but it's possible they could upset someone.

Danville:  They're coming off of a 6-22 year.  Similar to Garrard in their prospects.

Burgin:  6-25 last year

If the Boyle football players decide to play this year it could be an interesting district.  Regardless, it will be an opportunity for some coach to really distinguish himself.

I think it’s wide open at this point assuming thr football players don’t play at Boyle. DCA would probably be the favorite. If they all play, they’d have have to be the favorite in the district as no one else would be close talent wise. They’d have the talent to compete for the regional title. But that’s been the case for them the last 2 years and they’ve underachieved on both, so I don’t expect that to happen.
