12th Region Off-Season Discussion (2024-2025)

Looks as though Phillips (Wayne) had a change of heart and will be playing basketball. He has been in a few of the bball social media pics and more importantly, he attended the preseason team meeting.  Good news for Wayne and also to the 12th region.

Until someone beats Pulaski they are the favorite. They return plenty and I think won both the JV and Freshman regions. Mercer had them on the ropes and couldn’t get it done. I read in another post th

Figured that would be the case. Good for him.

Some critical injuries have already taken place in the 47th district.  Rumor is, two teams will be impacted by season ending injuries.

Good for that young man.  They will be solid with him back in the fold.

That's no good. Hopefully it isn't as bad as the rumor.

I’m hesitant to report on injuries.  One I know for sure.  The other I’m just “fairly certain”.  Unfortunate part of sports.

Read today that Quisenberry will be leaving Boyle in December for UK (football). He was a top 10 caliber player in the region and his absence will definitely hurt Boyle.

They are getting 6'7 Maddox Hager back along with Demauriah Brown.

Big add getting Maddox back.  Will be a huge backline with him and Driver.

I may be wrong but I walked by Maddox the other day at a volleyball game and I seriously doubt that he's 6'7".  Maybe a solid 6-4" or 6-5".  He should be stronger and quicker from football but he might be a bit rusty on his basketball skills.  It was unfortunate that he sat out during one of the most important years for development for a high school player.

What about Brock Driver?  Didn't he commit play football at Eastern?  He's not one of their better basketball players but he's a big and physical and can help with defense and rebounding.  Is he planning on playing basketball?

45th really intrigues me.  There are 2 really big and physical teams (Boyle and DCA), and a more guard oriented team like Lincoln Co.

Boyle doesn't have good outside shooting.  Brown and Turner are both streaky and can be dangerous for stretches but average 30% and 32% from the three point line.  DCA is even worse from outside.  Titus Boyd averages 27% from three and is prone to taking bad shots.  For either team to do much outside the district they'll need to improve their shooting or find ways to generate offense based on their inside game.  If DCA can figure out how to get Ateny the ball in scoring position they might be ok.

As far as Lincoln goes, from what I saw in the summer their lack of an inside game will hurt them this year.

Which is why it intrigues me.  Two different personnel groupings and style of play.  Lincoln will live and die by the 3, and Boyle and DCA will live off of paint scores.

Was told today Brock Driver will also be playing basketball.
