I agree, however, when the two Jackson brothers had a total of 10 fouls and 0 points it's time to step up. Rose Hill must have better production out of those two in particular to be successful. Dakota didn't shoot particularly well, but he ruled the boards. Of course, this is just all opinion, which is what BGP was created for.

As I have stated several times, for which I have been chastised by Rose Hillers and non Rose Hillers, I was against scheduling the game. I still feel that way and the outcome has nothing to do with it.

 

Now, having said that, I am not particularly devastated by the outcome. Rose Hill hung close until Chad picked up his fourth foul. If most will recall, that is when the game really turned for Ashland. Chad started the fourth quarter but picked up his fifth foul with just a little under seven minutes left in the game. Any chance of winning was certainly gone then.

 

Unlike the Raceland game, Dakotah, I thought, got some good shots. I don't think he was intimidated by McDavid whatsoever. The shots just didn't fall and, of course, some were rushed. That happens.

 

I really thought that Matt would dominate Chad. He didn't although Matt played his usual fine game. Matt wears the wrong colors (in my opinion), but I still root for him and am pleased when he has a good game. Wilcox did a good job on Chad but Chad's foul situation and early exit contributed somewhat to that.

 

Rose Hill, playing its even younger group, beat Ashland by 10 in the JV game.

 

Ashland was clearly the better team tonight. Nonetheless, I think Ashlanders, even their vocal cheering section (which was a definite asset to them), realize that the next few years will quite possibly produce different results.

 

So, in summary, the game shouldn't have been scheduled but, since it was, Ashland proved themselves to be a good, well coached team and Rose Hill sent a message about the not too distant future that I feel sure, from the comments that I heard from Ashland people, was heard.

Here is one post that I know will cause me a lot of grief but here it goes anyway.

 

Free Throws 25 for Ashland 4 for Rose Hill. Ball game. Both teams played man. One team gets to shoot free throws one team doesnt. Chad Jackson fouls out. Coldiron call four of the five and at least 3 were questionable. Matt Thomas fouls the first two plays of the game. Coldiron stops play after two possesions and changes one foul to Bonner #33. Coldiron swallows his whistle on the baseline on the second when Matt clearly fouls Chad Jackson.

 

I thought the Ashland and Rose Hill players both conducted themselves with class.

Rose Hill isn't doing very well against the region as of late. I'm sure the youngsters will continue to mature with each game, however.

Scooter- I disagree with you about the scheduling issue. I think as 64th District teams they should play each other home and home every year, along with Boyd County and Fairview.

 

I wouldn't count out Rose Hill in their next meeting. They can play a lot better then they showed tonight. The Tomcats were the better team tonight, but that can change in a hurry.

It's been over an hour since the game ended. I'm sure that the traffic coming out of Anderson Gymnasium was fairly heavy - it looks like there are several posters that may be caught in the traffic.

I respectfully disagree with your first paragraph but agree with your second paragraph. However, I still say, as I have said continually, Rose Hill is about a year away. They are very young and the win by their JV team is not without significance. Ninth-grader Quackenbush and seventh-grader Terry were very impressive. The Rose Hill seventh and eighth grade teams consistently beat Ashland's teams of the same grades. The future is enormously promising but it just isn't quite here yet.

Although some of Rose Hill's "more faithful" might disagree, I don't think the referee's had anything to do with the outcome. I'm not saying that there weren't a lot of questionable calls, but they went both ways and affected both teams equally.

I thought 2 of his fouls were very questionable. it is impossible to establish your "presence" in foul trouble.
