The Lyons were held to 40 points below their average in losing their first game of the season to a Kentucky opponent. 

Newport (20-3, KY #9) will meet the winner of #16 Evangel Christian vs. Murray tomorrow at 2:00 for the title. 

Lyon County (20-2, KY #3) hosts Henderson County on Tuesday.

Big-time win.

Extremely impressed with Newport. They dictated pace the entire game and limited their turnovers. They rebounded well and made some key shots and free throws late. They are terrific.

As for Lyon County, if Jack Reddick can’t get back to better health they have a clear ceiling and aren’t a state championship caliber team. Only one shot taken (and clearly very gimpy) can’t take enough pressure off Perry and Shoulders.

Wanted to blame the low scoring on the venue but when you look at the stats Lyon just didn’t get many shots. 36 is not a lot of chance to score a lot of points even if you hit half of them. Didn’t see the game but must have been slow pace. 

Travis Perry's final field goal of the game - as seen below - puts him at a staggering 5,000 points for his career. Wherever his final point total lands, it may stand for a hundred years.

Newport has reeled off twelve straight following the KOB.  And this was Lyon’s first in-state loss.

I was told by someone that was there that Newport really slowed it down limiting possessions.  

Been working away from home and got the chance to catch this game. Very discipline teams and coached very well. First time watching Travis Perry. He is the real deal. Newport is very good team. Great matchup.
