Louisville 85 Pepperdine 63

Best performance yet by this team.   Too little, too late.   Payne bought himself at least 1 more game.   We'll see what happens after Thursday.

Louisville has 5 wins from the cupcake part of schedule. Will be tough to get 5 more wins against the rest of the schedule with the worst team being Notre Dame and will have a shot at beating them and maybe steal a couple upsets at home. Once they are guaranteed to mathematically have a losing season, then I think Coach Payne will be fired.

Nice job KP with what you have to work with, keep moving forward.

If only he wasn't in charge of bringing in talent.

You mean with the players he hand picked?

And he's definitely moving forward... Right towards not having a job.

For context, Pepperdine was picked to finish 7th out of 9 teams in the WCC and with yesterday's loss, they drop to 5-9. Beating them shouldn't be considered a "nice" win, but rather a given.

It took 44 games, but KP picked up milestone win #10.

Just wait until Thursday when UL beats UK. ?

In the world of free transfers, isn’t it his own fault in regards to what he has to work with? It’s not that hard anymore to come in and completely flip a roster to what you want and be at least competitive and not losing record.

He gets a pass from me because in only his first chance to flip an entire roster he comes up short, lots of programs and coaches take at least two to three years for a complete roster turnaround, that’s just the way I personally view the Louisville situation at present.

In the past you would be 100% right that it takes a few years to complete a roster turnaround. that's simply not the case anymore in college basketball. Very easily to completely flip a roster in just one year, and especially by second year. Zero reason to have been as bad as they have been the last two years.

Well, except for the coach of course. ?

I'm willing to provide a little latitude, especially in year 1. But there is a big difference in going 14-18 or 4-28. It is December 18th and UL is approaching, if not already at, "win the ACC (tournament) or go home" territory.

I really do not like seeing anyone's demise like this, so I do hope things can flip for KP and company, but it just doesn't seem like it is meant to be.

They are 5-6 against the easiest part of their schedule. Every single ACC team is better than every team they’ve already played, outside of IU and Texas. They needed to be 9-2 at worst to this point to really show any improvement from last season. They obviously haven’t done that.

As I eluded to earlier, that’s just my opinion and respect yours.
