The Dragons defeat Metcalfe County to move into the third round. 
The Dragons didn’t play great, and Lost the heart of the team in Julian Seymour in the first quarter on a terrible flag, where the officials threw the young man out of the game, which I leave alone for now, but battled back and took the win anyways. 
 

The Dragons will travel to Owensboro Catholic next week, in what looks to be a tough tough matchup.
 

Hopefully Julian is able to play next week after a review of the penalty, which obviously was a missed call and a bad one at that. He is the secondary leader and the leading rusher on the year for the dragons, and they will need him if they want to have any chance of pulling the upset next week. 
 

 

I couldn't agree with you more on everything you have said. After watching the video posted on fb it's heartbreaking for this young man. Hopefully they can get this appealed. So many players stepped up tonight to honor that young man. McKinney beast as always. 

Good effort by Metcalfe County. I know they lost a lot from last season and the record wasn't great this year, but Harbison does a solid job with the Hornets. They had a handful of close losses early and seemed to be playing much better as the season progressed.

Why did the Seymour kid get ejected on a flag in 1st quarter? Was it his second unsportsmanlike? Throw a punch? 

LJ Harbison is the Best coach in the area  with out a doubt, He always gets the most out of his kids every year.

He had a flag thrown inside his helmet from a holding penalty on Metcalfe blocking his veiw.  Footage to prove it. It was called a dead ball foul.  It should have been a personal foul never an ejection. Should have been offsetting penalties.

So a flag, lodged inside of his helmet, and caused him to commit a foul that led to his ejection?  Was it a late hit or something?  If so, was there no whistle?  You shouldn't have needed to see what was going on as long as you stop on the whistle.

From the footage momentum took them both out of bounds. They was late on the whistle. They will see how the appeal goes.

The penalty flag hits the young man in the center of his face-mask and lodges into his Helmet, he’s attempting to make a tackle on the edge of the sideline, both players running wide open with all there momentum which leads them into the Metcalfe bench area, neither player goes down at this point. 

The Metcalfe player and the Dragon player both smash into the water machine on the sideline, the Dragon player walks away and is pushed and shoved multiple times by Metcalfe County players and no flag is thrown, he also doesn’t retaliate to anything done on the sideline and walks away, If they wanted to call a late hit so be it, but nothing about the play warranted an ejection, to include the fact the young man was just smacked in the face with a flag that’s lodged into his face mask and obscured his view. 
 

The play is easy to find on the live film and it clearly shows everything I just mentioned above. I’m not a fan who harps on officials, but this was clearly the wrong call in every way possible. 

Can someone post the video. I’m always interested in these types of situations. 

Saw the video on NFHS Network. I didn't see anything that justified an ejection. A 15 yard unsporting foul would have been sufficient. Interested to see how the appeal goes, as KHSAA typically will not overturn ejections such as this because it's a judgement call. If the officials mistakenly ejected him by a misapplication of a rule then it could get overturned but that didn't seem to be the case from the video.

Doesn't matter. There are no appeals process at KHSAA like someone said above.

Danville appealed one of their players getting tossed at Knox and he got to play the following week. This happened this season. 

That's a Fact, because we played them the next week he was supposedly ejected and he was reinstated on Friday morning to played that Friday night...
