Series History: First meeting since at least 1998

Teaser Preview: The Raiders kept alive hopes of an unbeaten season in dramatic fashion with a Hail Mary climax against Glasgow. 

However, the best case scenario for this district championship game will not come to fruition after Franklin-Simpson's unblemished record met its end in a respectable showing at the 'Swamp'.

But that's all tied up in the hype and pregame momentum. What transpires after the opening kick still holds potential for a classic.

The bread is buttered in the running game for both sides, but they've shown the ability to push the ball down the field with chunk plays in the passing game. Quarterbacks Jacob Shoulders (HC) and Mathias Dickerson (FS) each average 20+ yards per completion. 

This has the makings of an old school bruiser, with tough, physical, quick offensive lines attacking active front sevens.

The Wildcats are returning home for the first time in over a month and would love nothing more than to clinch a district title in front of the home crowd, but the Raiders walked through fire last week and have come too far to hand it to them. 

If you go simply with the eye test I think the Scotties struggled more with FS than with Hart. So I’m going FS 20-13.

It being at FS makes me lean Wildcats.

District title on the line, should be a great game. Everyone in SOKY knows how difficult it is to win at Franklin, a great atmosphere and some favorable calls for the home team is always guaranteed. I think the Wildcats went to Greenwood last week with Hart County on their mind and roll the Raiders.

FS 28 Hart Co 13

Hart County’s defense is severely underrated regularly on these forums. The Raiders have proven a lot of people wrong this year, and I think they are about to do it again. These guys are going to be playing for the first District Championship in school history, this is the team that won the schools first Middle School Conference championship, first playoff win in High School, etc. They will be fired up and ready to go Friday ready to set yet another benchmark. I’ll take Hart 28-14.

I don’t know much about Hart County and haven’t seen them play. They like to run it and play good defense which is exactly what FS wants to do as well. My question is what type of speed does Hart have? FS has won against bigger teams by outrunning them, and their loss against Greenwood was largely because the Gators had the speed to catch them from behind. Comparing scores doesn’t always tell the whole story, but I will listen to the people who watched Glasgow play both teams and pick FS 27-21.

Hart has very good team speed, with some real burners if they get out in space.

I’ve seen both teams in person against my Dragons and think FS more than likely wins this game by a score or less.
Both teams are very good, but I think the FS line was better and had more success moving the ball against the Dragons than did Hart.

I picked FS as the district champion after we scrimmaged them at the beginning of the year and see no reason to change that now. Give me FS 21-19. 

I do hope Hart is able to pull this out though, as rivals I respect the program they have built and hope they get their first ever district title.

Probably not a game much of the state will be talking about, but this should be one of the premier games in the commonwealth tonight. I'm really excited to see how it plays out.

Winner here avoids a likely long trip to Union County in the second round. Lots riding on this one.
