  • Until Iran gets smacked in the face this thing is going to go on and on, and get bigger and bigger.

  • I hear you. Just like everything else law enforcement encounters you would have to train everyone up and provide them (or the Fire Department) with the tools to safely extricate any of these criminals

The ones with their arms in concrete barrels...lift them into a public maintenance truck, move them to a park somewhere and drop them off. Let them figure out how to get out of the barrels themselves.

Bombers flew directly from Missouri, across the Pacific to strike Iran. That's a loooooong flight.

I'd have though it would have been closer flying across Atlantic and across Europe, but we may not have trusted all of our "allies" to not tip Iran off.

** I think I'm wrong here. **

I'm not sure they went via Pacific route, that's over 15,000 miles one way. Atlantic route is less than 8,000 miles. That seems much more logical.

This is reportedly the underground Fordow Nuclear site.

According to Fox News the US has launched an attack against Iran.

Yeah that didn't take long. I guess Iran wasn't making the moves the US thought they should to move forward with dialogue.

I think it has been about this long.

US destroyed Fordow with 6 Bunker Buster Bombs from B-2s and the other two sites were destroyed by 30 Tomahawks launched from Submarines.

I understand going after the nuclear sites that have been a problem and subject of international negotiations to control them for more than 20 years. However, why are we threatening more attacks? If Iran attacks us, yes we will respond. If Iran doesn't attack us and the mission to destroy the nuclear sites was successful, why would we attack Iran again?

Did I miss something?  I believe Iran has to choose between "peace or further attacks"  That seems pretty straight forward, the ball is in their court and the US will respond accordingly.

I think you misunderstood.  My understanding is we are done attacking Iran unless Iran attacks us.

That's how I interpreted it as well.

Got a tour of Raytheon in Tuscan, AZ on a family day for relatives about 20 years ago.  Got to see a fire-power video of a guided ordinance as it went vertically down a chimney….impressive.  Then had the bunker buster was explained to us, but no video as to not reveal, too much.  Was in awe then and cannot imagine the technological and power advancements of today.

The bombing run last night is part of Operation Midnight Hammer.

The operation included more than 125 US aircraft, "dozens" of aerial refueling tankers, seven B2 Bombers, a guided missile submarine and approximately 75 precision guided weapons.

Now Iran is considering closing the Strait of Hormuz.

That would likely be the path for dropping a bunker buster - Guam to Iran.

Read another report that said the bombers could move on to the island Diego Garcia, which is almost due south of Iran in the Indian Ocean. Diego Garcia has been used in the past for air strikes in the Middle East. It is about a 6 hour flight for a B2 from there to Iran.

There are reportedly two B2 bomber groups in route, with 3 B2's in each group for a total of 6 B2's in route.

The B2's that flew west toward Guam were a decoy. Well executed. No one knew the real bombing run was a second group of B2's that flew east over the Atlantic. A total of 14 MOP's aka "bunker busters" dropped, 12 on Fordow and 2 on Natanz. The following MOP's can go down the same tunnel created by a previous MOP to enable the following bombs to detonate even deeper than 200 feet.
