I'd encourage you to sign up and officiate a few games and see if you still have the same opinion.

It's a rule that's been in place for a long time. It'd be wise to show some grace to those who are giving up their time to officiate our games.

I’m a retired official that worked 20 years in football, baseball, and basketball and prided myself on knowing the rules and how to administer them, absolutely no excuses please.

  • Suspended? Over a few yards in penalty difference.   Man. That is harsh.

  • It didn’t impact the game, but Lloyd last week had a hold behind the line of scrimmage and it cost them like 20 yards, because of then new ruling. Suspensions are a bit much, especially since it’s har

IF that's true, then you are the first official in the history of organized sport that never blew a call.

Congratulations.

Missed judgement calls I’m sure, but definitely knew the rules.

Whatever you say...

No good official would advocate for multiple-game suspensions of other officials because of the enforcement of a brand new rule. That's beyond ridiculous, and embarrassing to be honest, if your background truly is what you say it is.

Not really embarrassing or ridiculous to ask your fellow officials to discuss the new rule and administer it properly when needed.

Discussing a rule and advocating for multiple-game suspensions are not the same.

You made an absurd statement, just own it.

Also used the word reprimanded but you decided to leave that out.

"Reprimanded or suspended a number of games."

Is that supposed to make it any less absurd?

I certainly preferred reprimands over suspensions when it came to my paycheck.

Alright I’ll bite. If you’ve officiated multiple sports at that level for that long and are calling for suspensions over a new enforcement ruling, then you are a true back stabber. Only looking to make yourself better, instead of admitting your weaknesses.

Totally 100% not true, just owe to coaches, the schools, and the fans to know enforcement on penalties.

Why officiate when he can just criticize for free!

Again the core of the problem in the lack of folks who would like to get involved in officiating

It’s a state rule change so why so much differentiation on enforcement? Should be the same for all officials?

As much as the KHSAA tries it's difficult to get every association and official on the same(correct) page. The problem with this change is if an OL or RB holds on a scramble 11 yards or more behind the LOS keeping the defense from sacking the QB the enforcement favors the offending team correct?

That is correct. It's like when they made DPI just 15 yard penalty from the line of scrimmage instead of a automatic first down. Good coaches started teaching the DBs to just interfere instead of giving up a potential TD.

Trust me, coaches taught that in the 60s and 70s too.
