The road show continues for the 2A #1 Beechwood Tigers. This week the Tigers drive south a few miles on Dixie Highway to face 5A Dixie Heights. The Colonels have been a difficult challenge for Beechwood with the teams going 5-5 in the last 10 meetings.

Beechwood is coming off a thrashing of 6A Campbell County. In that game Jr QB Clay Hayden was 20/25 for 285 yards and 4 touchdowns. Hayden has completed close to 80% of his passes over the first two games of the year. Jr. WR Luke Erdman was on the receiving end of 2 of those touchdown passes among his 7 receptions and 94 yards receiving. Jr RB Chase Flaherty carried the ball 7 times for 78 yards and scored 2 touchdowns as well.

Dixie Heights bounced back from an opening week loss to Simon Kenton with a win over Cincinnati Hughes High School. The Colonels posted some impressive offensive numbers of their own in that 33-8 win. Jr. QB Armani Gregg was 6/9 for 152 yards and 2 touchdown passes. Jr. RB David Anderson rushed 13 times for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Colonels grinded the win out on the ground rushing a total of 42 times for 303 yards among 4 different running backs. On the defensive side, Sr. Brach Rice has 37 tackles in 2 games with 7 of those tackles for a loss and 2 sacks.

Who do you expect to win this one and why?

I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face, and equally talented but less disciplined team will lose 99% of games played against more disciplined teams. Beechwood is far more disciplined and maybe even more talented. Tigers in this one by a couple TDs.

I will be in attendance for this game as my best friends son is a Sophomore for Dixie. I will of course be rooting for the Tigers but I’ll have someone to root for on the other side if he gets playing time.

I watched the Beechwood game vs Campbell Co and I’m not seeing how Dixie (after seeing them against SK) can win, unless Beechwood doesn’t show up. I saw a Beechwood team that moved effortlessly down the field on offense and stood the Camels up at the line of scrimmage with incredible ease on defense.
