It was a nice start to the 2023 Kentucky High School Football season.  Both teams look like they will be solid in their respective classes.

Big win for the Juggs with their back-up QB.

Lloyd Memorial had the upper hand tonight with its defense. They returned almost everyone on that side of the ball and it showed. There's a lot to be excited about in Erlanger.

NewCath should be fine if they can protect Smith. Good looking quarterback that was being forced out of the pocket every time I checked in on the game.

Congrats to LLoyd on getting that opening win on there turf.

I really like that New Cath defense didn’t quit. Welch giving 110% out there.

I can't say how the 'Breds stack up against the teams around them in the rankings, but I have a feeling they're appropriately rated right now.

Lloyd defense controlled the game. NCC has no shot of getting past Raceland or Pikeville this year. But they will have a decent record against their local schedule.

That is probably true with everyone in 1A.

I don’t disagree.

Nice  win!

I know people are high on Lloyd and rightfully so, but I would be disappointed in that showing if I were a New Cath fan. First game of the year and a tough opponent on the road, but with a top QB back leading the offense and that is the result - disappointing for Breds fans.

I wouldn't go that far.  Lloyd was a little too much for NCC. They should be competitive the next two or three weeks.

Quite a ways to go before we can see that. The good thing they have 9 more regular season games before it’s win or go home.
I really think New Cath went to pass heavy in this one.  But you have to give credit to the defense who lived on that field ALOT tonight only giving up 24 points. Running clocks usually happen when teams are on the field that much.

Video of NCC kickoff returned for TD.

Congratulations to LLoyd on a nice win.  They dominated the offense and defensive line the entire game. Lloyd had great team speed and confused NCC at times.   NCC needs to go back and regroup to try to find some answers.  They certainly left the crowd scratching their heads. Their upcoming games will continue to test NCC.  Hopefully they can get things on track quickly. Good luck to both teams going forward.
