@coachhawk and company kickoff off a high potential season with a 21-10 road win.

  • See, that is the difference between you and me, I am a true Station fan and you are something else. ?

In general, IMO, defense comes along quicker than offense. In Game 1 I’m taking a stout defense over offense every single time.

A Station wouldn’t surprise me. A multi-score Station win AT Trinity? Yeah, that would surprise me. Love It or hate it, Trinity (rightfully so) is still cream of the crop in 6A. They are going to be expected to win at home over most teams, most of the time.

That's fine, and respectfully, I anticipate reading your BGP post(s) come Saturday Aug. 19th. I'm not seeing anyone talking about how much of a shutdown defense Trinity has currently.

Trinity on the jersey. ?‍♀️

Lol a lot of good that did last season when the season was on the line, right? I get it, to be the man, you gotta beat the man. Aren't we all glad HS football is back?

As I have stated before there were two different Trinity teams last year and bad Trinity showed up against Station.  That is not to take anything away from Station but I want to see the Defenders do it again before I am ready to declare Trinity so 2000 and late.

Bryan Station won by 3 at home so since Trinity is at home I'll pick the Shamrocks by 3.

Nobody has said anything about a shut down defense, but they do return most of a stout defense from a year ago.

If Station wins by multiple scores, on 8/19 I will be singing their praises and sounding the alarm for Trinity.

Just curious... How do you go from a 3 point Station win at home to a multiple score road win? What are you factoring into that?

This is a vintage Trinity defense. Most of the defensive starters have been playing together since they were freshmen. They have a goal to be in Lexington in December. THS wins 14-7 in OT.

It does take away from Station though. I've seen a ton of BGP praise from yourself and others, and now the tone has changed because apparently now Trinity has gotten back into traditional defensive form. Although it's weird to understand that a "Bad" Trinity team made the trip to Lexington in and apparently just couldn't conjure enough lucky bounces to advance in the playoffs. Not a regular game. The playoffs, nonetheless.

And it is apparently far fetched to believe a Station team returning a lot on both sides, and with a few additions, can defeat the Rocks by multiple scores.

Character is built in games like that playoff win against Trinity. A team that got smoked on the scoreboard early in the season, and recovered to knock out a traditional power, and then go toe to toe with the eventual state champion has a LOT of character. And a large percentage of those same players are back this season.

They don't just have tape on the Rocks, but experience. The incentive to beat Trinity 2X in a row might very well be more intense than the Rocks desire to avenge the playoff loss.

Station could lose 0-35 on Friday, but right now I haven't seen any player names or changes that scream that this 2023 Trinity is gonna be the real deal.

21-10.

It is not meant to take away from Station and as someone that probably watched close to 8 Trinity games last year I know I didn't always see the same team.

To switch gears, if Station goes 15-0 I would be ecstatic.

Well, I wouldn't be ecstatic lol. But if they'd beaten Trinity, then the following week gotten routed by BE, my outlook would be totally different.  But they looked like they belonged on that stage. And the lack of deep playoff experience at Station surely was a subtle factor.

Now, the hunger is back and they know exactly what they want to do on the field, I maintain that they get the jump on the Rocks in the regular season.

You think all does doesn’t apply to Trinity as well?

Not nearly as much.

So you’re banking on Trinity underestimating the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year…
