Louisville Holy Cross 72 Saint Xavier 71

Featured Replies

Holy Cross upsets the Tigers on their home court and was led by Jacob Hand who had 28 pts. Tigers have lost 4 straight and have Oldham County and North Oldham left on the schedule and are trending in the wrong direction towards the end of the season.

What?  How?  This is a real shocker. Does X have guys hurt or sick?  I know Collins drilled them last week.

I was shocked watching it in person but St. X is very young team and young teams can be inconsistent and maybe the long season has worn them down. They start 3 sophomores and one freshman and two freshman come off bench and play along with two senior reserves. Nelson Williams is the lone senior who starts. I think overall they have played well for being so young and I expect them to be improved next year with all those kids a year older and especially in two years.

This is a shocking result!

My question is why is X starting such a young group? Normally they are a Jr/Sr dominated squad.

Congrats to Holy Cross. It sounds like they have a solid team. As far as St X, it's time to go in another direction. Coach Klein has been there since 2008 and every season seems to be the same.

There seems to be some young talented players in the program, but IF the school decided to take the program in a different direction I wouldn't be surprised. I don't think they will, but I could understand IF a change was made.

Micah Carter, Jaxon Panariello, and Adam Boone are seniors that used to play basketball that could have helped this season but gave up basketball to focus on football which I don't blame them.

When did they stop with basketball?

I know the 7th Region is extremely difficult, but it surprises me that St. X has only won the region once (1995) since 1969.

I think Micah stopped after sophomore year, and Jaxon was either after freshman or sophomore year, and Boone after last year. Micah would be a force down low but he is D1 football player so concentrating on that.

Going 0-3 against the other Jefferson County Catholic High Schools (Trinity, DeSales, and Holy Cross) will not sit well with some of the X faithful.

No it won’t. But they should be used to losing to the first two…

I don't know what is more surprising:  the St. X that many wanted to be ranked at the beginning of the year losing to this Louisville Holy Cross team, or the crowd in the gym in the photo that @Tigerpride94posted from Twitter.
