By the way......... anybody know when the 2007 Baseball Previews are coming out?

By the way......... anybody know when the 2007 Baseball Previews are coming out?

I'm guessing 2 weeks, or so, after the 15th. That'll give coaches time to be able to evaulate their team and see who the starters may be.

I handled the 14th last year and am looking forward to doing the preview, again this year.

Well......the ground hog didn't se his shadow, so Spring should be right around the corner. PLAY BALL

Its great too see other people who count down the days. I know from my HS days that we had a calender on the captains lockers that pretty much said X days until baseball season. Its a great day for Ky baseball in general as players put the caps down for winter hats and sweatshirts and start the running and throwing when possible outside. Good luck to all teams this year in baseball.

Spring is right around the corner just 7 more days.:ylsuper:

"Chilly" Countdown continues, including today.....

8 Days till Feb. 15th.

SLAY YOUR OWN DEMONS, THEN SLAY DRAGONS

Ignore those things outside your control: the judgments of umpires, the conduct and ability of other teams, the weather, your amount of playing time, the final score (this is a tough one). Do not show frustration or disappointment. Do not allow your opponents to gain joy from your inability to cope with self-pity. Do not throw equipment or whine in anger or slump your shoulders. Such behavior impresses no one. Maintain your poise. Learn, prepare, and focus on the next event. We cannot change the past. Instead, we should focus on the next action with determination, joy, and resolve.

Next Thursday. 1 week from today.:dancingpa :dancingpa

Forecast for Thrusday:

Few Snow Showers 28 for the high and 15 for the low. That doesn't look good, but the 17th look more promising.

Sunny and 43 for the high.

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THOSE THINGS UNDER YOUR CONTROL

Your effort, your attitude, your commitment, and your approach to the game are under your control. Be enthusiastic, play with great effort, conduct yourself appropriately, meet this opportunity with great joy. Listen to your coaches. Be alert, play smartly, know the signs. You are always accountable. How you react to situations and circumstances reveals the person you are and the person you might become.

Catcher's Drill: Blocking

Practice blocking through progression drills. Start in the blocking position, letting the ball hit your chest. This drill will improve upper body control. From there start with your glove in the receiving position on your knees, as the ball bounces of the ground practice covering the space between your legs. Lastly, practice blocking from the squat, with emphasis on cutting the angle to baseball.

Add retrieving the ball (and sometimes making a short throw). For that reason, add a first step where the ball is simply laying in front - having already been "blocked." In each successive step, continue to retrieve it (and maybe throw).

Change it up, try replacing your knee with your feet when getting up to retrieve. Make sure you don't use your hands to push off the ground on the way up. This is a great way to strengthen your legs and improve quickness.
