State Championship Blowouts

Featured Replies

Watching this College Football National Championship as Georgia continues to pour it on TCU. 52 point routing and counting leads me to the question:

What are some of the most lopsided State Championship games you guys remember?

Let’s start with 40+ point victories.

Breathitt over Corbin 2002. 51-0.

HHS destroyed Louisville Waggener I think in '98 by something like 56-7.

Boyle's win over undefeated Rockastle County in 2001 and it was 42-0 at half.  Went up to 49-0 before Smith called the Rebs off to win 49-14.

Highlands has to have quite a few. I remember 2010 vs. Christian County, 50-0.

Followed the next year by Bowling Green routing 55-3 over Anderson County.

Trinity beat Pleasure Ridge Park 61-7 in 2012.

2008

Trinity 48- Simon Kenton 0

2011

Trinity 62- Scott Co. 21

2012

Trinity 61- PRP 7

There's plenty more "blowouts" but those are the +40s.

That seems crazy but I do remember BC had a couple of really good teams but I can’t imagine a score like that these days.

In 2017 I attended the Beechwood route of Raceland 41-0. Everything that could go wrong for that Raceland squad did I felt bad by the end of it for their Seniors.

I was trying to think back on Beechwood state games on when they had their last blowout win, but couldn’t remember passed the last few years that have all been decided by a point or so.

Was 2017 game the most recent domination for Beechwood?

Not sure what’s more impressive, the blowout or the one point wins!

I say the one point wins, especially those last 3.

I’d have to agree. Shows grit, consistency, and a whole lot of determination.

Although if I were coaching the Tigers, for my health and the sake of my coaches health, I’d take the blowouts ?!

Danville beat Beechwood 42-7. I can’t remember what year but Jeff Wera was the QB.

Danville had 500 yards rushing with no passing yards.

I believe that was the 2003 title game where Kelvin Turner and Charles Penix just ran all over the place on teams for much of the season.

I think you are right. Danville was a running machine that year.
