According to Travis Branham of 24/7 sports, Texas has apparently reached out to John Calipari, through back channels, about their open coaching position. 

Longhorns have contacted Cal through back channels.

will he take the job? 

It's my understanding there is no buyout if he chooses to walk. 

Seems like there would be no better time than now for Cal to get out if he wanted. Texas certainly has enough money. 

I can't say I've been pleased with the results on the court this year (or the end of last year, and none of the year before that), but that being said, are fans who want Cal gone not concerned at all about missing out on this unreal class next year?

Over on the Texas board, doesn't seem like most of them are too keen on the idea.

I've not. Of course I'm more in-tune with NBA stuff and evaluating on that scale. I believe people are still living in the world that recruiting and team rankings are what they were a decade ago and living off that mystique. It isn't. I'd say the last super high power class Calipari brought in was Monk, Fox, and Bam. What was that, seven years ago? Next year does appear to be different, but who knows? We are talking 18 year olds.

I’m sick and tired of losing. I’m honestly fed up with Cal and his garbage offense but I think he stays with the class he has coming in next year. If he fails to even make a final four, then it’s a bust and he has to go for me.

I personally don’t think next year is the same, but to each their own. 
 

My preference would be to see how next year plays before seeing him go, but it’s really not up to UK anyway. 

Hopefully something works out here and Cal moves on, Ky basketball needs this change, let Cal prove he is better at another program, but don’t really think that is going to happen, with the right replacement, that great class coming next season comes here anyway.

On Cals radio show tonight, Tom Leach straight up asked Cal about the Texas rumors. Cal says he hasn’t talked to anyone and his focus is getting his guys right “I love this job”.
