'Breds notch 90+ point games on consecutive nights.

New Cath climbs to 8-5. Host Williamsburg falls to 7-4.

NCC loses a big piece in Caleb Eaglin. after a steal and breakout, a Williamsburg player speeds up and puts his body/shoulder through the air-borne Eaglin, causing him to have a very ugly landing. Eaglin did not play the rest of the game and appeared to have been seriously injured.

The Williamsburg player was not ejected, but a few of NCC parents were, which boggles my mind. This was, unfortunately, the dirtiest play of basketball I have seen in the last 5+ years at the HS level. I hope the play is reviewed by KHSAA and Williamsburg HS.

Caleb is a golf stud who, I imagine, has desires to play at the next level. It would be a shame if this play has any impact on his upcoming golf season.

That sounds awful, and dangerous, and I certainly hope Caleb is okay!!  Sounds like it created a very heated scene.

Interesting that the local paper mentions nothing of any of that in their article, including the parents' ejections, which seems like they would have been newsworthy.

“It was a good experience for our guys, tonight,” Williamsburg coach Anthony Hibbard said. “We have to give credit to Newport Central Catholic. They are a well-coached team and very talented. They pushed us hard tonight. Our guys didn’t quit and kept battling all night. These games will only help us later on. We have to regroup and get ready for another battle tomorrow.”

Generally speaking far too many "media outlets" appear to be shills when they cover high school sports.  If there is a printed version maybe it is good for a fish wrap.

Saw the video.  I will not post it because it looks awful.  But here is the play.  I was told Caleb broke both of his wrists.  Hopefully this is addressed.

This is so unfortunate for Caleb, he has busted his rear on and off the court. I am hopeful his injuries aren’t worse, he landed very awkwardly. I understand the need for officials, but I do not understand the officiating mindset and why this player was not ejected. During this incident the same player shoved another NewCath player. Wishing Caleb a healthy and speedy recovery!

If it occurred the way it was described (I have no reason to doubt) that player should’ve been ejected no doubt about it.

As far as fan behavior goes, my sources have told me the parents have been insane all year to the point they sit as far away as possible at the games. An incident like this that led to parents being ejected is sad but not surprising from what I’ve been told.

Hope this young man is not that seriously injured as he most certainly has a future with golf.

Word that he broke both wrists is accurate. From what I was told the player from Williamsburg played the rest of the game and nary a hard foul on him. I’m sorry but we wouldn’t need to be told to retaliate to a dirty foul, especially one that puts your teammate out for the season.

It is hard to draw a conclusion from those two pictures but I will say it looks extremely flagrant.

The pictures show no attempt to attack the ball, only the body.

Yikes! That's a full on mugging. Stepped right up under him while lifting up his crossed arms, and if looks could kill ...
