Two things I really like to have:  Really good players and really good coaches. I seem to better when it is that way.

Most jobs like Adair your are going to have up and downs years but you hope to build the program up to a level that the down years are still 6-7 win season and making the playoffs.  The bigger issue i

Is StoneBreaker getting cloned? Thought he was going to Somerset? Is Adair a step up from Casey? It’s not my neck of the Woods.

What kind of job is this? Facilities? Seems like Adair has athletes but never can consistently win.

Biggest issue with jobs at schools like Adair is the assistant coaching pay.  I looked it up on their school website and the head coaching stipend is $8,000 which isn't bad for a 3A job but the assistant coaching stipends is $12K for 4 coaches.  That simply is not enough money to go out and hire guys who are all in on building a program.  You can have athletes and facilities all you want but it take more that 4 paid coaching positions to run a successful football program.

I would love to see the average of coaches stipend in each class. Head Coaches and Assistant, that would be interesting.

Adair has a new AD who used to be assistant AD for 20 years at WKU. He will do his best to make sure they get a good coach and has connections. Have heard a former Lindsey Wilson football player/assistant coach with some interest, as well as even a possible 3A coach currently at another school. The coach at another school would be a big time hire.

Adair has a lot of potential in my opinion, BUT it will take a lot of work and someone who is willing to dig their heels in and build it from the feeder program up.  Adair usually has some athletes to work with.  I've also heard rumors that Adair's enrollment numbers may take them to 4A.  I don't know if that is correct, like I said, it was a rumor.

Coach Van Issacs resigned this week after a disappointing year. He coached 4 years at Adair with a record of 14-24. Positive news for Adair they only graduate two starters this year.

Columbia, KY - Lindsey Wilson College there (a very good football school).  Taylor County/Campbellsville right up the road about 25 minutes.  Close to several nice lakes.  Be a good landing spot for someone.

What’s the word on this Job

Hearing a name that would be an A+ hire but we will see what happens.

It’s no secret in Adair County that they are going after Steve Stonebraker.  There are other schools calling him as well, as they do every season.

His name certainly seems to make the rounds each year in hiring conversations.

He does one heck of a job.  We all see it on here all the time, where records seem to be the be all end all with so many (often times or all of the times, they become issues with guys on here who are low key trying to get jobs and upset they aren’t in the conversation, let’s just call that what it is)…

Coach Stonebraker is one of those guys that has, in my opinion, made the most of what he has had.  In his better years has he had some better players? Absolutely. I don’t know a coach who hasn’t attributed their successful years to having better players.

With Stonebraker, and there are others, with overall career records that aren’t exactly the most eye popping.  But, when you watch his teams you can tell from the bat that they are well coached, put in position to win, disciplined & the compete even when out manned.

The really good jobs don’t come open very often and there is a reason why they don’t come open, yet while on the contrary, there are jobs that almost seemingly always come open and those are the jobs that you have to try and make good jobs.

…There are also reasons why those come open…

The good jobs have been the good jobs for years for the most part, and they will for the foreseeable future as far as any of us are concerned.

I have no idea if he is interested or not. In a day and age where far more people are leaving education/coaching than they are getting into it, If your admin is worth their salt at all, you seek out people who still want, can and love coaching ….if they have won any at all at places similar to yours? It’s an automatic you call them.

If you’re a program that has more talent than they’ve (coach in interest) has ever had, yet they’ve won any at all at their prior/current school(s) then that’s even more reason to call them up.

Steve Stonebraker is one of those guys.

Great take, CJ!

Adair can be a good place to coach! However, they will be susceptible to the county school cycles (up and down years). The big need for AC is an upgrade in facilities - across the board. I hear they're building a new middle school. Hopefully once that is complete, they will begin to focus on athletic facilities. When you don't have those things and the admin isn't supportive of athletics you will continue to lose kids to places who do have support and facilities.
