Bishop Brossart sits at 9-2 on the season and will host the 5-5 Paintsville Tigers. Both teams beat there first round opponent 36-14.  Bishop Brossart beat Fairview while Paintsville beat Bracken County.

Who wins this 2nd round playoff matchup? Does Bishop Brossart get to past Paintsville? Does Paintsville put another whipping on a district 5 team?

I think Paintsville gets the win.  I don't think we can hold losses to Beechwood, Pikeville and Raceland against them in this game.  A one point loss to Somerset and and a two point loss to Perry County Central we could debate.  But, Bishop Brossart's losses to Newport and Lloyd raises an eyebrow. And their one point wins over Ludlow and Bracken make it even worse.

I see Paintsville winning by 21.

I'm cautious on this Brossart team. I only watched them against Lloyd, but I was shocked that they went on a 6 game win streak. If you would have told me they would have finished the season losing 6 in a row I would not have been surprised.

The opponents Brossart have played since Lloyd are not on the same level as Paintsville I don't think. Brossart is well coached and won't make mistakes, but I'm not sure they have the horses to make it anything more than 'close'

I'm sure they will be a formative opponent.  They have accomplished much and will have an opportunity to knock Paintsville off, I'm sure.  It should be a great game.

I’m going to root for the N Ky team. Don’t know anything much about either team. But it does look like Paintsville has played the better schedule. Brossart needs to play a better schedule these days. They’re not the pushover they used to be. So it’s time to step up and find a few games to prepare you for the post season. Schedule some of Holmes, Lloyd, Boone, Scott, NCC, Walton, Bourbon, Harrison.

How is BB against the run?

Again, I only watched them in person once and they got gashed to the tune of around 300 yards on the ground. However, that is the only game all year that they have given up more than 18 points. If you remove that 40 point game then they are giving up under 10 points a game. That sounds like a pretty good defense no matter who you've played.

I know Paintsville has a pretty solid RB in Harris Phelps. He won 1A State Champ MVP his sophomore year and is a senior this year. If they struggle against the run he will likely have a big day.

I agree with most of what is being bantered about in the posts above.  Considering that we lost our quarterback in the first half of our first game, and then went through three other candidates before converting lineman Austin Schadler to the position in the Ludlow game on September 23rd there was certainly room for improvement.  Schadler, who played QB on our Colts Junior High team and was our JV quarterback his freshman year, now has six games under his belt, including a 38-13 win over a competitive Paris team, that no one here seems to have noticed.  Putting up 43 and 36 against lesser opponents, Pendleton County and Fairview, says that we can score.  Our defense is ranked 2nd in Northern Kentucky and 4th in all of Class 1A.  In a nutshell, we are not sure just what we have right now, but we are certainly headed in the right direction.

I think that it is neat that the 2020 Class 1A State Champs are coming to Alexandria, and even neater that here on the week of November 7th that the Tigers are in Paintsville preparing to travel here and play us.  Chances are that a few years back they had never heard of Bishop Brossart.

I'm hoping for a competitive game, and hitching my wagon to our defense to prevent them from running roughshod over us, and keeping them in range.  It would be neat if we could actually beat Paintsville and then let them go to Raceland to play the Rams.   I'm really proud that this team is in the conversation.  Win or Lose this has been a very successful season for a "rebuilding" Mustangs' team, with a Fifth Round Draft Choice Quarterback.

From a lineman, that also played QB and TE, when needed, I love the story.  I hope he, and the Mustangs, have a great game.  And, this Ram would love to welcome you, and the Mustangs, to Ram Stadium, one of the most unique places to watch a football game.  Good luck.

I agree with points made by most on here.  However, I think that Brossart has gotten better into the later part of the season and think their chances are pretty good.  I think that the Mustangs are playing better since the Newport loss and the Lloyd loss doesn't cause me as much concern.  I think it will be a good game, good luck to both teams.

Long trip for Paintsville. Remember some great games between Bellevue and legendary coach Walter Brugh's Tigers. Saw one of the best defensive plays ever in a 7-0 Bellevue win in the semis. Paintsville's guys will lace 'em up and play hard. Congratulations to the Mustangs on another fine season.

Uhhh, We've been welcomed there four times too many in the past six years.  ?

Yea, but it's such a nice place, each time is special.

And, we have turf now.  It's almost a totally different place.
