It wouldn’t surprise me to see either Glasgow or Taylor County win their first round games.

Both have very strong run games and when healthy, play good defense. Being able to run the ball effectively in November is key. 

I wouldn't be surprised if District 6 in 2A has at least 3 teams advancing. 

Any game where the lower seed wins is technically an upset. I will add to the list games that are within a 2 TD spread. Using that criteria, here are ...

McLean County over Caldwell County (yes, McLean is the lower seed)

Trigg County over Hart County

Taylor County over Paducah Tilghman

Nelson County over Henry County

Hopkinsville over Franklin Simpson

North Oldham over Valley

Clay County over Wayne County

 

Class 5A:

South Warren over Graves County (Graves County is the higher seed)

Seneca over Bullitt Central

Class 6A:

McCracken County over Meade County

North Hardin over Daviess County

George Rogers Clark over Tates Creek

 

 

 

Berea has a chance to win their first playoff game in school history at Dayton; imo that would be a big upset and huge for the Pirate program.

If we are just looking at lower seeds beating higher seeds, then I think the following may happen:

• Sayre over Harlan
• Murray over Butler County
• McLean County over Caldwell County (Caldwell has played better of late, though)
• Hopkinsville over Franklin-Simpson (depending on which Hopkinsville shows up)
• North Oldham over Valley (I don't believe this would be an upset, however)
• South Warren over Graves County
• North Laurel over Collins (both teams seemed better earlier in the year than they do today)
• George Rogers Clark over Tates Creek

Seems like there were 3 or 4 upsets by seed in most classes, except for 6A.

Was Tates Creek over GRC an upset?

Went through the list of games and counted 9 or 10 road victories

South Warren at Graves being one....so would you call those upsets?  I am not sure.   Just find it amazing that only 10 teams won on the road!

How many road wins do you want? I think ten road wins is a statement in favor of the current playoffs.

Depends. I think most people would have said GRC should win even on the road. But Tates Creek was the higher seed.

Maybe a slight upset but they are generally average teams that don't matter this year.

I can see taking Top 3, giving the 1 seed a bye, & then letting those other normally 4 seed type teams play an extra game on a Thursday or Saturday. 

A lot of 2 vs 3 games are competitive. There is no district strong enough in the current state of KY HS FB where the 4 seed is beating a 1 seed imo. 
 

Prime example is Marshall County going to Simon Kenton. Marshall County was the #5 Seed in their district if I’m not mistaken.
